NASCAR driver Kyle Larson was suspended today; Now, he’s issued an apology
On Easter Sunday, Kyle Larson entered a digital race on the iRacing platform. He joined many drives seeking sports relief during the Coronavirus postponement.
Stars from various forms of racing entered the event. In addition, iRacing regulars filled the field.

The event wasn’t hosted or sanctioned by NASCAR. Instead, it was a one-off event promoted by Landon Cassill.
The digital race took place on the oval at Monza. The track is Darlington, meets Daytona.
60 drivers crossed the starting line for the green. That was the only flag to drop until the checkered as yellows were disabled. It was chaos and a blast.
Fans are at home with nothing to do due to the Coronavirus pandemic. They tuned in from their living rooms by the thousands as live streams went up all over the internet.
Unfortunately, Kyle Larson ran into radio issues. He may have been trying to communicate with his spotter on a private channel.
Instead, his voice was sent out via the public channel. Larson dropped the N-word. The various streams went viral and Kyle Larson became a trending twitter topic just moments after the comments.
Kyle Larson suspended:
On Monday morning, Chip Ganassi Racing announced they had suspended their driver. Moments later, NASCAR also handed him a suspension.
The 27-year-old driver was in his 8th NASCAR Cup Series season.

Kyle Larson apologizes following slur used during iRacing event
“Hey, I just want to say, I’m sorry,” NASCAR driver Kyle Larson opened in a video.
“Last night, I made a mistake and said a word that should never, ever be said. You know, there’s no excuse for that. I wasn’t raised that way. It’s just an awful thing to say.”
“I feel very sorry for my family, my friends, my partners, the NASCAR community and especially the African-American community.”
“I understand the damage is probably un-repairable, I own up to that.”
“But, I just want to let you all know, how sorry I am. And, I hope everyone is staying safe during these crazy times. Thank you,” Larson concluded.
