Full 2021 Indianapolis 500 payout released
Helio Castroneves retired from full-time racing following the 2017 season. He entered his first Indycar race of 2021 via the Indy 500.
He drove it to victory lane. The win marks his 4th career win in the Indianapolis 500.
In total, Castroneves has now earned $14,985,749 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway alone.
After the race, Castroneves claimed from his machine and went right to the fence. The driver and crew climbed the fence as none of the frontstretch fans budged from their seats, instead they roared for the veteran.
The total purse of the 2021 Indy 500 was $8,854,565. That’s a significant increase from 2020’s Indy 500 purse of $7,502,500.
How much did the semi-retired Indy 500 winner earn for this win?
