A caution came out with just three laps to go. That sent the race into NASCAR Overtime.

St. Louis Race Results: June 4, 2022 (NASCAR Truck Series)

On the final lap, Derek Kraus, Carson Hocevar and Johnny Sauter battled for a top 5 spot. Sauter got into Kraus, sending him up the track.

Kraus chased his truck right into the left rear of Hocevar. Hocevar went for a spin and he stepped on the gas to successfully keep it out of the wall.

However, he sat with his driver’s side door at the field. As he came back down the banking, Tyler Hill had nowhere to go. He drove right into the driver’s door of Hocevar.

Austin Wayne Self was also collected in the crash.

It’s worth noting that this happened on the last lap. Thus, drivers weren’t going to lift. The next flag ended the race, whether it be a checkered flag or caution flag.

Hocevar’s car was bent inward at the door and left front wheel assembly. The impact was massive.

Hocevar is being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Tyler Hill noted that he spoke to Hocevar in the care center and the driver appeared ok.

Tyler Hill comments

“I’m ok. It’s definitely one of the harder hits I’ve taken,” Tyler Hill told Bob Pockrass after exiting the care center.

“I saw Carson in there. It looks like he’s doing well.”

“Going for it there at the end. Start to spin, he got it kinda saved, then he spun again. By that time, I couldn’t avoid him.”

Hill added, “It’s not what we want to do with our truck team. Can’t really afford to be destroying trucks. Kinda bummed, but I’m ok.”
