Race Report
Green flag, O’Ward leads. Rosenqvist looks outside of McLaughlin but he drops a wheel off the corner. Will Power spins deeper in the field.
Lap 9, Felix Rosenqvist is up in smoke and the caution is out.
Green, O’Ward leads as Herta looks inside of McLaughlin for 2nd. McLaughlin holds him off into turn one.
Lap 20, O’Ward leads McLaughlin by 1.1 seconds.
Lap 24, green flag pit stops are underway. Newgarden and VeeKay are the first to pit.
“I’m losing power! Something’s going on with the gearbox,” race leader O’Ward screams over the radio.
Lap 30, O’Ward pits from the race lead. Kyle Kirkwood is off track and stalled in turn 9.
Lap 31
Lap 31, McLaughlin and the rest of the leaders hit the pit lane. As they enter the pits, the caution is out.
McLaughlin holds the lead. Palou has cycled out in 2nd with Herta in 3rd.
Green, McLaughlin leads with Palou all over his bumper into turn one. Palou looks to the outside in turn five but McLaughlin holds him off.
Dalton Kellett spins with help from Jack Harvey, caution.
Green, McLaughlin leads Palou. O’Ward is dropping through the field.
Lap 53, McLaughlin pits from the race lead. Kyle Kirkwood is stalled off track, most of the field is diving to the pit lane.
Lap 54
Lap 54, the caution is out. Pato O’Ward is stalled at the exit of pit lane. Colton Herta is the only car that didn’t pit.
Green, Herta leads McLaughlin. Will Power aggressively takes 3rd away after spinning on lap 1 of this race.
Lap 59, Alexander Rossi runs teammate Romain Grosjean off track, caution. Herta hits the pit lane.
Green, McLaughlin leads as Palou drops a wheel off turn one.
17 to go, Colton Herta is off track with help from Romain Grosjean, no caution.
7 to go, McLaughlin leads Palou by 1 second.
3 to go, McLaughlin opens the gap.
