NASCAR results from Talladega Superspeedway

Next up, the NASCAR Cup Series takes the stage in Talladega, Alabama. The 2.5-mile of Talladega Superspeedway is set to host race two of three in the Round of 12 of the NASCAR Playoffs.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 60 (1-60 / 188)

Green flag, Almirola pushes Larson to the lead on the outside. As Larson drops to the bottom, Almirola drives right by on the outside.

Caution for debris as Ty Dillon has lost a side window.

Larson and others hit the pit lane.

Green, Erik Jones clears Chastain to hold the lead.

Lap 23, Harrison Burton spins with a bump draft from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Gragson, Logano, Cindric and others are collected.

Jones and rest of the field hits the pit lane. Slow stop for Jones as Kyle Busch wins the race to the pit exit with fuel only.

Green, Suarez clears Busch via the outside lane.

Lap 31, Elliott drops from the top to the bottom, catches the nose of Busch and Elliott is shoved to the lead.

Lap 35, Almirola returns to the lead on the outside. It’s short lived, Hamlin to the lead with a push from Byron.

Lap 45, Corey LaJoie is around, caution.

Green, Hamlin clears Byron into turn one.

5 to go in stage one, Hamlin blocks a run from Byron. Byron dives to the inside and they run side by side for the lead!

4 to go, Hamlin has a huge run, he drives right by Byron.

1 to go in stage one, Hamlin throws a huge block on Elliott. Blaney has a huge run off the outside of turn four. He pulls even with Hamlin.

Ryan Blaney wins stage one at Talladega!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 60 (61-120 / 188)

Blaney leads the field to the pit lane, Larson wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage two, Jones clears Larson with a push from Blaney. Blaney hangs onto the outside and drives right by Jones, Blaney leads.

Lap 72, Keselowski looks to the outside of Blaney. Blaney blocks him all the way to the wall! Erik Jones to the lead.

Lap 75, Almirola to the lead on the outside.

Lap 99, green flag stops are underway. Christopher Bell as he tries to hit the pit lane.

Lap 104, Reddick cycles to the race lead.

8 to go in stage two, Larson leads a train on the inside lane. They pull even with Reddick.

2 to go, Elliott shoves Larson to the lead.

1 to go, Reddick to the lead on the outside into turn one. Larson has a run on the inside in turn three. Reddick gets loose and shoved out of line. Elliott pulls out of line and looks to the outside of Larson coming to the line.

Elliott wins stage two!

Green flag on stage three, Jones clears Elliott.

Lap 128, Byron shoves Buescher to the lead.

Lap 130, Blaney shoves Chastain to the lead.

Hamlin leads a charge on the inside. Chastain pulls down to block and Blaney drives by on the outside, Blaney leads.

26 to go

26 to go, the green flag pit cycle is complete. Blaney cycles back to the lead with Keselowski on his bumper.

Pit Penalties: Keselowski and Harvick are caught speeding and will serve a pass through.

18 to go, McDowell shoves Jones to the lead in turn three.

17 to go, Blaney fights back to the lead and he throws a huge block on Chastain to hold the spot.

9 to go, McDowell shoves Jones to the lead in turn one. Blaney fights back on the outside.

7 to go, Daniel Hemric is stalled at the edge of the pit lane and the caution is out.

Green, Blaney and Jones run side by side into turn one. McDowell shoves Blaney to the lead off turn two.

1 to go, Elliott jumps to the outside lane, he leads that charge with a push from Jones. They pull even with Blaney into turn one.

Elliott and Blaney fight for space off turn two. They remain even into turn three. Jones shoves Elliott to the lead off turn four. Elliott blocks five lanes through the tri-oval.
