NASCAR Cup Series driver Alex Bowman also owns his own dirt racing team. He fields the No. 55 in various series with sponsorship from Ally.

Jimmie Johnson previously drove the No. 48 for Hendrick Motorsports. The car was sponsored by Ally during his retirement tour in 2020.

Johnson is a 7-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. However, in the previous two seasons he’s run Indycar sanctioned events.

For 2023, Johnson purchased a stake in Petty GMS. He’s now set to return for five NASCAR Cup Series races in the upcoming season.

Yet, Johnson has more interests. With a background that stemmed from off-road racing trucks, Johnson is intrigued by dirt oval racing.

“I have not,” Johnson said when asked if he’s ever driven a sprint car.

“We can change that,” Bowman responded.

Alex Bowman opened his shop doors to welcome Jimmie Johnson. The 47-year-old then sat behind the wheel for some laps in a dirt sprint car.

“I’m curious, with the INDYCAR experience I’ve had, maybe it will seem a little more normal.”

After climbing from the seat, Johnson added, “That was incredible. I’ve always wanted to drive one. I have to be honest, it had me a little nervous. Just an awesome experience.”
