The NASCAR Cup Series is on the grid in Austin, Texas. The 20-turn Circuit of the Americas (COTA) road course is set to host the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix.

Two F1 champions are on the grid, Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen. Also, 7-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson has returned. IMSA star Jordan Taylor has also joined the field.

Stage 1 – Report

William Byron - Circuit of the Americas (COTA) - NASCAR Cup Series

Laps: 15 (1-15 / 68)

Green flag, Byron gets the jump and he’s clear before turn one. They fan out 4-5 wide behind him. Austin Cindric takes over 2nd through the esses. Reddick outbrakes Cindric into turn 12, Reddick back to 2nd.

Lap 2, caution as Brad Keselowski has stalled on the track. Keselowski spun and sent the field scattering. Ty Dillon was spun trying to avoid Keselowski and he collected Jimmie Johnson.

Green, Byron runs Reddick wide off turn one. Austin Cindric cuts under both of them, Cindric to the lead.

Lap 7, Chase Briscoe gets turned in turn one by Justin Haley from 17th, no caution.

Penalty: Joey Logano will serve a pass-through penalty for cutting the course.

Lap 8, Reddick dives inside of Cindric, Reddick to the lead.

Penalty: Denny Hamlin, Michael McDowell and Corey LaJoie will serve a pass-through for cutting the course.

Lap 11

Lap 11, Bubba Wallace cooks the corner with a possible brake issue, he slams Kyle Larson and Erik Jones, no caution.

Bubba Wallace says, “I need to be replaced.”

Lap 12, Kyle Larson gets turned by Denny Hamlin, caution.

Reddick heads for the pit lane. Most of the top 10 stay out, Byron is handed the lead.

Green, Byron gets the jump and he wins the race to the line for stage one!

Laps: 15 (16-30 / 68)

Lap 18, Kyle Larson spins Ryan Blaney, no caution.

Lap 24, Byron pits from the lead as green flag stops are underway. Tyler Reddick cycles to the lead, he last pitted at the end of stage one.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 38 (31-68 / 68)

No stage caution, the race resumes. Many drivers flood the pit lane including Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson. These cars are on a three-stop strategy.

Pit Penalty: Larson will serve a pass-through for speeding on the pit lane. Ty Gibbs will serve a pass through for cutting the course.

Lap 32, Reddick pits from the race lead. Byron cycles back to the race lead.

Lap 36, Reddick is up to 3rd and flying on new tires. He trails Byron by 4 seconds.

Lap 38, Christopher Bell spins as the track is covered in dirt, no caution.

Lap 39, Reddick is on the bumper of Byron in the battle for the lead. He dives to the inside in turn one, Reddick is the leader!

Lap 40, Denny Hamlin also spins out in the dirty part of the track. A long green flag run has made the track very dirty.

Lap 41

Lap 41, caution for debris.

Reddick and most of the field hits the pit lane. Joey Logano stays out as he pitted just a few laps prior to the caution.

Green, Logano gets the jump. Reddick drives it deep but he slides right through turn one. Byron crosses under him as Reddick runs way wide off the corner.

23 to go, Reddick dives under Byron on the brakes. Byron crosses under him. Side by side for the lead. Reddick dives under once more, Byron crosses under yet again to hold the lead.

22 to go, Reddick dives inside of Byron once more in turn one but he can’t get the power down off the corner. As they slice, Chastain closes on both of them. Reddick outbrakes Byron into turn 12, he runs Byron wide off the corner. Reddick completes the pass.

20 to go, Kyle Larson has a broken toe link. He limps back to the pit lane, no caution.

Penalty: Ryan Preece is penalized for cutting the course. He then speeds during his pit penalty and he’ll come back for a second time.

12 to go

12 to go, Byron bobbles, he runs off line as Chastain and Suarez drive by. Suarez then gives the bumper to Chastain and Suarez takes 2nd away.

Brad Keselowski has stalled off track, caution.

Reddick leads most of the field to the pit lane. Slow stop for Chastain as he’s off outside the top 10. Bell, Busch, Hamlin, Raikkonen and Preece all stay out. Hamlin, Busch, Raikkonen and Preece have just one lap on their tires.

Green, Reddick outbrakes his way to the lead from row three into turn one. Austin Dillon, AJ Allmendinger and Ross Chastain are turned behind them. Caution as Chastain is stalled.

Green, Byron wins the right out of turn one! Byron leads with Reddick all over his bumper.

Penalty: Austin Dillon will serve a pass through for cutting the track.

5 to go, Byron leads Reddick by a car length. They’re driving away from the rest of the field. Byron gets loose off the corner, Reddick has a run. Reddick dives to the inside, clear. Reddick returns to the lead.

4 to go, caution for debris!

NASCAR Overtime 1

Green on NASCAR overtime, Reddick runs Byron wide off turn one. Reddick leads Kyle Busch into the esses. Several cars spin behind them, no caution.

Caution for debris as Ryan Blaney has dropped parts all over the track.

NASCAR Overtime 2

Green on overtime attempt number two, Busch leans on Reddick in turn one as Truex Jr spins behind them. They remain side by side into the esses. Ross Chastain climbs into the top five with a huge move on the inside in turn one.

Ryan Blaney is turned by Cody Ware.

Austin Cindric turns Michael McDowell. Caution for debris.

1 to go, Reddick leads by 1.5 seconds. Busch dives inside of Bowman for 2nd as they return to turn one.
