Stage 1 – Report

Talladega Superspeedway - NASCAR Cup Series 3

Laps: 60 (1-60 / 188)

Green flag, they run even into turn one. Briscoe shoves Almirola to the lead on the outside lane.

Lap 2, Michael McDowell spins after a blown tire and the caution is out.

Green, Almirola leads off turn two. Bubba Wallace shoves Briscoe to the lead. As Briscoe drops to the inside lane, Ty Gibbs shoves Bubba Wallace to the lead via the outside lane.

Kyle Busch to the lead.

Lap 35, Bubba Wallace and the rest of the Toyotas head for the pit lane. Tyler Reddick locks up under braking, spins and hits the inside wall! No caution.

Lap 41, the Chevrolet group heads for the pit lane. Chase Briscoe locks up under braking and he goes for a spin. Briscoe is stuck on the pit lane with a right front issue and the caution is out!

Chase Elliott cycles to the race lead as the pit cycle is complete under the yellow flag.

Green, Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott run side by side at the front of the field.

1 to go in stage one, Bowman and Elliott remain side by side for the lead. Chastain locks onto the bumper of Elliott and shoves him to the stage one win at Talladega Superspeedway!

Elliott leads the field to the pit lane. Hamlin wins the race to the pit exit with fuel only.

Pit Penalties: Chris Buescher, JJ Yeley, Riley Herbst and Todd Gilliland all drop to the rear.

Green flag on stage two, Harvick shoves Hamlin to the lead via the outside lane.

Hamlin drops to the bottom lane. Harvick now leads the outside lane. Harvick pulls even with Hamlin, after several side by side laps, Truex Jr shoves Harvick to the lead.

Lap 77, Joey Logano leads the inside lane. Truex Jr shoves him to the race lead.

Truex Jr leaves the bumper of Logano, moves to the top and catches the front bumper of Denny Hamlin. Hamlin shoves Truex Jr to the lead.

Hamlin drops to the bottom, side by side with Truex Jr for the lead.

Lap 97, a third lane has formed on the outside lane. They’re closing fast as more and more cars move up there. Bubba Wallace pulls up to lead that lane, they shove him to the lead! Wallace is clear as they run three wide for 2nd behind him.

Lap 100, Harvick to the lead.

Pit cycle

Lap 108, the green flag pit cycle is complete. Chase Elliott cycles to the race lead.

Pit Penalty: Joey Logano will serve a pass-through penalty.

9 to go in stage two, Bubba Wallace leads the outside lane. Chase Elliott leads the inside lane.

2 to go in stage one, Truex Jr shoves Wallace to the lead. Elliott pulls back even.

1 to go, side by side for the stage win. Almirola shoves Elliott clear in turn three. Almirola backs up to the bumper of Harvick in turn four. He has a run on Elliott as they head into the tri-oval.

Almirola pulls out of line and drag races Elliott to the stage finish, Almirola wins stage two by 0.025 seconds!

Green flag on stage three, Almirola and Wallace run side by side into turn one. Wallace wins the battle via the inside. Wallace blocks the outside lane, Harrison Burton now leads the inside lane. Burton to the lead.

50 to go, Burton leads the inside lane. Ryan Blaney leads the outside lane.

47 to go, race leader Harrison Burton is turned just ahead of turn three off a bump draft from Noah Gragson. The caution is out.

Green, Ryan Blaney leads the inside lane as Bubba Wallace leads the outside lane. Wallace noses ahead via the outside lane.

38 to go, the outside lane gets stacked up, as they lift, Ryan Blaney takes over the lead on the inside lane.

15 to go, Blaney leads the inside lane. Ty Gibbs leads the outside lane. They remain side by side for the lead.

5 to go

5 to go, Joey Logano gets turned off a bump draft from Corey LaJoie. Ricky Stenhouse Jr and others are collected and the caution is out.

Green in NASCAR Overtime, Ryan Blaney and Noah Gragson run near even into turn one. Gragson gets loose with a push from Ross Chastain and as he chases it up the hill and Chastain forces his way inside. Gragson slams the outside wall. Kyle Larson gets turned behind them, as he comes across the track, he’s slammed by Ryan Preece. The caution is back out.

Chastain, Hamlin, Harvick and others hit the pit lane for fuel.

Green, Ty Gibbs is out of fuel and he pulls to the apron. Bubba Wallace shoves Kyle Busch to the lead.

Coming to 1 to go, Wallace works to the outside of Busch into the tri-oval. Blaney shoves Wallace to the lead.

Wallace throws a block on Blaney into turn one. Blaney looks to his outside, Wallace throws another block. Wallace spins in front of the field!

The caution is out. Kyle Busch wins at Talladega Superspeedway!
