“What the hell was that?”
On Friday night, Daytona International Speedway hosted the NASCAR Truck Series. Rajah Caruth was making his debut with a new team, Spire Motorsports.

On the final lap, Caruth was in a position to grab the win. Instead, a mistake took out a number of trucks.
Caruth lost the nose of his truck off turn two. As he ran wide, he hooked the left rear of Jack Wood. As Wood went across the track, he hooked Taylor Gray in the right rear.
Gray ended up backwards at a high rate of speed. The truck caught air and went airborne. With the track blocked, about 15 trucks were caught up in the parking lot.

Caruth survived the incident that he caused. He went on to grab his career-best finish in the NASCAR Truck Series.
However, after the race, Caruth didn’t take fault in the crash.
NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace has been a mentor to Caruth. And after he saw the incident, Wallace marched from his bus to the pit lane.
Wallace was seen having a stern conversation with Caruth after the race. At one point, Caruth attempted to shake Wallace’s hand, Wallace ignored that then pulled Caruth away from the TV cameras to continue the conversation.
Social media went wild from that interaction.
Wallace stated, “Somebody had the best tweet after that whole interaction. They said, ‘Bubba Wallace could get on twitter and say f*** Bubba Wallace and people would be mad at him.’ “
So, what was said between Wallace and Caruth…

“Not good,” Bubba Wallace opened up about the conversation between himself and Rajah Caruth via the Door Bumper Clear podcast.
“He wants to learn and grow his notebook as much as he can. But, I was sitting in the bus and watching it LIVE. I was like, ‘What the hell was that move?’ “
“I put my shoes on and marched out there. If your kid came up to me and was like, ‘Help me out.’ Ok, strap in. I told Rajah this after the fact, ‘when you win your first race, I’ll be the first one to victory lane. When you f*** up, I’m going to be the first one to go to your ass. If you don’t like it, cry about it, I don’t care.’ “
“I went up to him like, ‘What the hell was that?’ He said, ‘I got pushed into that.’ “
However, there was no truck on the bumper of Caruth at the time of the accident.
“I was like, ‘Are you sure?’ He said, ‘Promise, I got pushed.’ That’s when the camera cuts away.”
“I told him before the race, ‘Be patient. There’s going to be a lot of wrecks. Don’t do anything stupid. If you don’t finish a race, you have nothing to learn from.’ “
“When he gets in that deal. It’s like ok, I’m trying to put myself in his shoes, ‘Oh, the top line’s moving around me. There’s half a hole, bam!’ What the f***? You got a mile and a half.”

Caruth comes around to take fault in the crash
“I got back to the bus. I studied film like it was my own f****** race. Pausing the tv, pulling up my phone. Like bro, you didn’t get pushed, what are you talking about?”
“He said, ‘No, I got hooked by Corey.’ I said, ‘Corey’s not touching you!’ He said, ‘No, the No. 11 not the No. 7.’ I’m like, ‘Ohhh, a different Corey.’ “
So, Bubba went back to watching the film. He came to the same conclusion…
“The f*** are you talking about? No one touched you.”
“He finally came around and said, ‘I messed up.’ I said, ‘thank you. Now, pick up the phone and tell everybody else that.’ Because that’s what he’s gotta do.”
Most of the social media reactions to the video of their conversation was negative towards Wallace.
“I’m doing what I thought was right. I don’t give a f*** what people say. It’s just funny to see all that. Then, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, I did make a mistake.’ And, I’m the a**hole.”
