Atlanta Motor Speedway inspection issue for the NASCAR Cup Series

Update: NASCAR confiscated parts in Atlanta Motor Speedway inspection

NASCAR Cup Series drivers have yet to touch the track in Atlanta, Georgia. However, on Friday, teams rolled through the inspection line at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr was the only car to fail twice. Per the rules, the team has lost a crew member. An engineer has been ejected for the duration of the weekend. The team will also lose pit selection.

The NASCAR Cup Series field will take to the track on Saturday morning for qualifying.

Also, NASCAR has confiscated parts from two teams during inspection. Both teams are fielded by Stewart-Haas Racing.

Pre-Qualifying

1 Failure
No Penalty

2 Failures
Crew member of NASCAR’s choosing ejected (crew member cannot be replaced). Additionally, the team loses pit selection.

3 Failures
Not permitted to qualify plus above penalty. They also have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race.
