Tyler Reddick penalized after initially clearing inspection at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Right now, NASCAR Cup Series cars are on track for the first time this weekend. Before taking to the track, teams must roll through multiple inspection points.
Tyler Reddick and the 23XI team initially cleared inspection on their first attempt. However, that’s when the issues began.
NASCAR noticed that the team made adjustments to the car, after clearing inspection. They thought the splitter had been adjusted.
They then forced the team to go through inspection all over again. This time, they failed inspection.
They then rolled through inspection once more. This time, they passed.
However, NASCAR has issued penalties to the No. 45 team.
Reddick will drop to rear and serve a pass through for start of race. The team has also lost pit selection. Additionally, the car chief has been ejected.
NASCAR is also requiring the team to make a qualifying run, despite starting at the rear. That’s to prevent the team from having an extra set of tires due to the penalty.
JJ Yeley also failed pre-race inspection three times. Per the rules, they won’t be allowed to run a lap in qualifying.
No other issues have been reported.
Tomorrow, the NASCAR Cup Series will take the green flag at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It’s the famed Coca-Cola 600 weekend.
