YouTube star issues an apology after the ARCA race at Charlotte Motor Speedway
On Friday, the Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the ARCA Menards Series. And, ARCA rookie Cleetus McFarland (Garrett Mitchell) made his first attempt at an intermediate oval.
The YouTube star entered his third career ARCA Menards Series race. Previous attempts came on the superspeedway sized tracks of Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.
He made it to the front row. And he gave the pace car a bump to let him know. Moments later, it all went wrong.
McFarland spun the tires in the restart zone. He got sideways and clipped Isabella Robusto. Spencer Gallagher and others were also collected.
McFarland picked up moderate damage in the crash but he was able to finish the race.

Cleetus McFarland comments
“I want to start off by apologizing to the teams that I took out, I think it was several cars,” Cleetus McFarland told FOX Sports.
“I feel terrible about that. Every time I go racing, I don’t wanna get taken out. I’ve felt it, it sucks.”
“I made a complete rookie maneuver on the restart. I zigged and then I zagged. He was blowing my door off, in the zag, I hit him and put him in the wall. I feel terrible.”
“I know those guys work hard to be out here. It sucks to send them home.”
“This was 100 times harder than a superspeedway. I got humbled. Made it to the front row for the first time, hit the pace car that got me so fired up to hit the throttle (on the restart), I forgot there’s no dang restrictor plate on this thing.”
McFarland is now planning to run his next ARCA race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
