On Friday night, dirt late model drivers were bullring racing in Downtown St. Louis, Missouri. It was the preliminary night of the Gateway Dirt Nationals.

The top three drivers from Friday’s main event lock into the $70,000-to-win feature on Saturday.

In the feature event, Kyle Bronson and Brenden Smith were rubbing doors for 2nd. They spent nearly a full lap making contact.

Smith elected to drive it deep to the bottom and attempt a slider. However, he didn’t clear him. Instead, Bronson was shoved up the track where he climbed the wall and went nose first into the fence post.

Bronson’s car came to an instant stop. He climbed out in a hurry and walked to the front stretch to confront Smith.

Bronson reached into Smith’s car. Event promoter Cody Sommer was there and said, “That’s enough.”

Bronson said, “(inaudible) or I’d whoop your little ass.”

Kyle Bronson comments

“A (expletive) straight purebred,” Kyle Bronson told FloRacing when asked what happened. “He needs his ass whooped, his daddy didn’t do it enough.”

“I wanted to punch the little kid in the head. But, he didn’t want to fight so I’m not going to make myself look like a damn idiot.”

“I’m like one of those old dogs. When somebody gives me back 5 lbs, I’m going to give them back 10 lbs, I promise you.”

“I needed that to fire my ass up and get back going. Looking forward to the next one, we got a long season ahead of us.”
