Double L Motorsports does not plan to run a national series in 2026
Last season, Jonathan Davenport ran with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. During the off-season, rumors have circulated that the team could go in a different direction for 2026.
That rumors were confirmed today.
Double L Motorsports will open the 2026 season this weekend at Central Arizona Raceway. The Wild West Shootout will run from January 10-18 with two $25,000-to-win events to cap the mini-series.
For the rest of 2026, Davenport has elected not to run a national series. The team will instead run a pick-and-choose style schedule for the year.
The full schedule has yet to be released.
Jonathan Davenport comments
“It will be a little different for us not running a series full-time or competing for a Championship, but at the end of the day, we’re still trying to win every time we unload,” Jonathan Davenport stated via the team release.
“I am looking forward to being at my son Blane’s fishing tournaments more often and supporting him whenever I possibly can. I’ve always enjoyed going to new racetracks and might even be open to trying a different genre of racing.”
“We’ll still be all over the country chasing big money in the #49 like always. But it will be refreshing to show up at all of these tracks because we want to and not because we have to be there for points.”
He added, “Not saying I won’t ever run for points again in my career, but it is just not in the cards for this year.”
Davenport was the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion in 2015, 2018 and 2019.
