The Chili Bowl Nationals is the biggest dirt midget race of the season. It’s run on a 1/5-mile dirt track inside the Tulsa Expo Center in Oklahoma.
400+ drivers are battling through preliminary night action on Monday through Friday. Only the top two drivers from each preliminary feature transfer directly into Saturday’s main event.

Every position matters. And when 400 drivers are battling for so few spots, tempers tend to flair.
On Wednesday night, two crews got into a fight in the pit area. A driver was also involved in the altercation.

Chili Bowl officials actually allow fighting. However, they have strict rules for such situations.
Drivers are allowed to fight on the front stretch, in front of the fans. The fight is required to be driver vs driver with no crews involved.
Similar to the NHL, the fight is required to stop once someone goes to the ground.
In this case, there were multiple violations of those rules. The fight took place in the pit area, between crew members and it didn’t stop once people were on the ground.
The Chili Bowl Nationals will continue again with a new batch of drivers on Thursday.
