Hamlin has previously undergone two shoulder surgeries
The 2026 NASCAR season is set to begin today. Bowman Gray Stadium will host The Clash on the 1/4-mile in North Carolina.
Denny Hamlin will race the No. 11 today. But, he’ll begin the season with a re-torn shoulder.
The NASCAR driver lost his father in a tragic house fire on December 28, 2025. While cleaning up from the fire, Hamlin re-tore a previous injury.
Denny Hamlin comments after the passing of his father
The now 45-year-old previously had arthroscopic shoulder surgery on November 22, 2023, directly following the championship race that year. He previously stated that he had fully recovered for the start of the 2024 season.
He also had surgery on his other shoulder back in 2019.
Hamlin noted that he fell through rubble at the house causing the new injury. However, at this time, he doesn’t plan to have another surgery.
The green flag will drop tonight at Bowman Gray Stadium.
