Connor Zilisch says NASCAR fans actually like racing in comparison to F1 fans
If F1 was a country, it would be a superpower. The GDP of F1 exceeds far more than most countries.
With it’s global audience, the sport generates roughly 3.5B per year. In comparison, NASCAR sits at roughly $500M.
F1 TV audience reaches around 1.5B per year. Yet, in the United States, NASCAR is still the top form of motorsports, by a mile.
And I’m just throwing this out there. Where is the racing part? Formula 1 isn’t a racing series, it’s a manufacturer competition.
Years ago, Connor Zilisch said NASCAR was more like a County Fair compared to F1. Now, the driver runs full-time at NASCAR’s highest level.
He recently clarified those comments…

“That wasn’t an insult when I said that,” Connor Zilisch clarified to rollingthebottom.
“When I said that, it was the honest truth. F1, it’s not a racing event, it’s an entertainment event. That’s why celebrities go. You drink wine, have cheeseboards.”
“NASCAR, our fans love watching racing. And that’s the difference. I wouldn’t say my perspective on it’s changed.”
He concluded, “I’ve always had a ton of respect for NASCAR and it’s fans because the people that show up to the track show up to the track because they love watching racing. That’s what I love about this sport.”
Zilisch is currently in his first full-time season with the NASCAR Cup Series and looking for his first win. He has collected 13 race wins in just 45 starts in NASCAR O’Reilly Series competition.
