Denny Hamlin comments
Denny Hamlin is also an owner/driver. He drives for Joe Gibbs Racing while also co-owning 23XI Racing.
“Brad has a specific vision he wanted for his race team, and if you listen to the anonymous people that chimed in on that article, while they said they definitely listened, if they brought up the hoodies, it means they didn’t like it. They didn’t like that, right?,” Hamlin said on the Rubbin’ is Racing podcast.
“They changed the wallpaper of their computers, but no one in there denied that well the results were better.”
“When you bring up dress code, we went with the opposite approach.”
“We have actually encouraged our people to wear… We want the competition people, they won’t do it, they just keep wearing team apparel to the shop. But, we said, dress casual. Wear whatever you want to wear.”
“A lot of it is the employees. Can they handle harsh management? Or do you have to coddle them? It’s just different with everyone.”
“As long as you got employees that will buy into your vision with you, I think that there’s several different ways to do it. Me and Brad just have different ways, and there’s not one way that I’m saying is better than the other.”

“What Brad was trying to accomplish, he accomplished,” Earnhardt said on The Dale Jr. Download.

“He went to that race shop and the perception was, the floors were dirty, [expletive] was laying everywhere. They cleaned it up, painted the floors and fixed it up nice. So that when someone went into that building to work, they felt like there was more pride.”
“Before Brad, things weren’t good. Not long ago, they ran 35th. He was making a difference.”
“I know we’re clowning him and it’s fun to pick on Brad for making a no hoodie policy. Everybody loves hoodies. I know what he was trying to do and it was the right thing to do.”
