Marcel Angel has died in a crash during an Xtreme Festival event
Killarney International Raceway is a road course in Cape Town, South Africa. This weekend they are hosting the National Extreme Festival.
Marcel Angel, 62, of Llandudno was a competitor in the first Supercar race of the day. He was in a crash at the end of the back straight.
According to early reports, the car went through a wall. The safety team responded to the scene immediately.
Angel has passed away in the crash. The remainder of the Extreme Festival has been canceled.

Killarney International Raceway: Statement
“The Killarney family are deeply saddened by the passing of experienced Supercar racer Marcel Angel during the Extreme Festival event at Killarney International Raceway on 19 September 2026.”
“Marcel, 62, of Llandudno, was taking part in the first Supercar race of the day when he crashed at the end of the back straight. Medical personnel and officials were immediately on the scene, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries.”
“The rest of the Extreme Festival event was cancelled out of respect for the Angel family. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Marcel’s wife Mica, his family and friends during this difficult time.”
The track concluded, “May he rest in peace.”

“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Marcel Angel, following an incident during Race 1 of the Extreme SuperCars Driven by Dunlop at Killarney International Raceway today.”
“Marcel was a valued member of our Motorsports community, and his loss will be felt by all who knew and raced alongside him.”
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Marcel’s family, friends, team and the entire motorsport community during this incredibly difficult time.”
“We ask that Marcel’s family’s privacy be respected at this time.”
They concluded, “The remainder of today’s programme has been cancelled.”
