Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 60

Green flag, Denny Hamlin moves to the inside, he takes the race lead into turn one. Logano quickly retakes that position.

Lap 20, the competition caution is out and the field heads to the pit lane. Trouble for Harvick who loses seven position at the pit exit. Johnson and DiBenedetto tangle on the pit lane.

Green, Logano holds the lead as Hamlin moves to 2nd.

We’re seeing a bit of a superspeedway race at Michigan International Speedway.

Lap 44, Kurt Busch tags the outside wall. The race remains green.

Aric Almirola takes the lead! Logano takes it back.

Lap 53, Kevin Harvick is heading to the pit lane with a loose wheel.

Joey Logano wins stage 1!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 60

The field heads to the pit lane. Logano is first in and first off.

Green, Logano leads.

Penalty: Bubba Wallace will serve a pass through penalty for a restart violation.

Lap 70, the caution is out for debris. This will place Harvick back on the lead lap. The top 9 cars stay out.

Green, Logano leads. The race is for 2nd. Most of the field runs nose to tail. There’s a lot of racing going on for 2nd on back.

Larson is coming through the field. He can build a run off the corner better than anyone in the field. He side drafts Blaney, pulls him back and sets sight on Logano.

7 to go in stage two, Kyle Larson heads to the pit lane. The top 7 cars on the track are close on fuel. Larson is the first car to the pit lane. 8 to go, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Erik Jones head for the pits.

Penalty: Safety violation for Keselowski, he’ll serve a pass through.

3 to go, they’ve all pitted. Austin Dillon leads Kevin Harvick. Both of these cars pitted on lap 70. They run nose to tail at the front.

Final lap, Harvick has a look to the bottom in turn one. Dillon leaves the lane open but Harvick can’t get alongside.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 80

The field heads to the pit lane. Logano returns to the pit lane for 2 tires and more fuel, Logano is first off the pit lane.

Green, Elliott side drafts Logano into turn one. Harvick looks to the outside lane, they run three wide for the lead! Harvick leads as Logano falls to 5th.

Lap 129, Clint Bowyer is in the wall and the caution is out. Bowyer split the middle and couldn’t hold the lane, he pushed up the banking and into Jones before he caught the wall.

Green, Harvick is clear into turn one. They run two by two behind him as Larson moves to 2nd.

Lap 136, Logano gives a huge push to Larson down the front stretch. Larson dives to the inside of Harvick, Larson gets loose and runs up the hill. Logano gets into his bumper and Logano retakes the lead. William Byron taps Dillon on the left rear, he’s around and the caution is out.

Green, Logano noses ahead. Harvick side drafts him to pull him back and they run even through the first corner. Larson gives a push to Harvick down the back and Harvick takes the lead.

53 to go, Logano looks to the inside in turn one. He runs Harvick up the track in turn two but he’s not clear. Logano completes the pass in turn three!

52 to go, Harvick works under Logano. Kurt Busch and Truex line up behind Logano on the outside and Logano is pushed back to the lead.

28 to go

28 to go, Kyle Larson heads to the pit lane to begin the green flag pit cycle. 27 to go, Harvick pits from 2nd. 26 to go, Logano pits from the race lead. Two tire stop for Logano, Harvick took four.

18 to go, Brad Keselowski pits from the lead. It’s a fuel only stop for him. Logano is now 5th, Harvick is 14th. That’s the difference in two and four tires. The top four cars will still need to pit.

15 to go, Joey Logano cycles back to the lead. Truex trails the leader by a half second.

10 to go, Logano has opened the gap to a second. This is the first time all day that the leader has been able to break away from the field.

6 to go, Truex and Kurt Busch are nose to tail and running down the leader. In a single lap, they shaved more than a half second. They are now two car lengths back of Logano.

4 to go, Erik Jones is around with a flat tire and the caution is out!

NASCAR Overtime

Green flag, Logano gets a huge jump, he’s clear before the flag stand. Truex holds 2nd. Busch cuts to his inside in turn three, Kurt Busch to 2nd.

Final lap, Kurt Busch is on the bumper of Logano into turn one. Logano holds him off. Kurt Busch heads to the top in turn three, not enough.
