NASCAR Driver Clint Bowyer Talks Dirt Racing

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series team owner Clint Bowyer talks about grassroots racing

Clint Bowyer isn’t just a fan favorite in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. He’s also the owner of a two car team in the LOLMDS. Ahead of the Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR event tomorrow, he was asked about his dirt racing program.

Paraphrasing, he feels in debt to weekly racing. In actual quotes, “Weekly racing is what put me on the map. And gave all of us an opportunity to showcase our talents to the race teams that we’re racing for today.”

NASCAR draws from Weekly racing series like the LOLMDS, “That’s the support series. That’s the level that gets everybody here.”

He continued, “Not just drivers, it’s crew members, it’s engineers, crew chiefs, over the wall guys. Everything that you see, that makes up the Cup Series all starts in one way shape or form in a weekly racing series somewhere across the country.”

He concluded, “I love being a part of that.”

Clint Bowyer mentioned that the two drivers on his dirt racing team ask the same question every year. Question being “Do I got a job?”

As long as you see my ass in a cup car don’t you worry about your job.

Don O’Neal is the most recent winner on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour. It was a long time coming as he’s been plagued with bad luck. Things went into a positive direction at Duck River Raceway Park. O’Neal took the lead from Scott Bloomquist and went on to claim his first LOLMDS win of the year.
