Carson Hocevar is the driver of the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series. Tonight, the NASCAR Cup Series is racing at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.
Joe Gibbs Racing currently has an open lawsuit against Spire Motorsports. JGR has claimed the team has stolen data.
Spire responds to injunction: “JGR does not own tire pressures”
Chris Gabehart was the former competition director at Joe Gibbs Racing. Last year, Gabehart left JGR to take a new job at Spire.
That move sparked the lawsuit.
“Here’s a trivia question. Which Chevy team is highest in owner’s points? Joe Gibbs Racing. It’s our satellite team,” Denny Hamlin stated months ago via the Actions Detrimental podcast.
The comment was sarcastically calling Spire Motorsports a satellite team of Joe Gibbs Racing. Which they are not.
“It’s interesting, everywhere I had good runs last year, it seems like their cars have a lot of speed,” Hamlin later told Jeff Gluck.
“I know what JGR spends to make their cars go around. It is an astronomical amount. They deserve to keep that information to themselves.”
Carson Hocevar, Mr. Troll himself has leaned into this. Tonight at Bristol Motor Speedway, drivers were introduced on a stage in front of the crowd ahead of the race.
Hocevar grabbed the mic and introduced himself as, “Driver of the Joe Gibbs Racing Chevrolet.”
Joe Gibbs Racing fields a fleet of Toyotas. Carson drivers none of them.
Just recently, Hamlin called out Spire Motorsports. He called Spire, an “unserious” team.
