Josh Berry brake checked Ryan Blaney at Martinsville Speedway
On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced on the short track of Martinsville Speedway. The race is the final race before next week’s championship round at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
On lap 253, Ryan Blaney gave Josh Berry the bumper. Berry then stepped on the brakes.
Ryan Blaney drove into the back of him and it crushed the front nose. The No. 12 car picked up heavy damage and his day was basically over.

Blaney wasn’t the only driver to be the victim of a brake check. Carson Hocevar pulled a brake check multiple times on Austin Cindric. Cindric ended up behind the wall due to the damage.

Ryan Blaney comments on Josh Berry after Martinsville
“The deal in three and four, I just barely accidentally bumped the No. 21 and he just decided to slame on the brakes and end our day,” Ryan Blaney told NBC Sports.
“So, I don’t really know why. After just a little tiny bit of contact, not even on purpose. He just lost his mind.”
“Unfortunately, ended our day.”
“I barely got him, and it was on accident. We just kinda came together in the middle of the corner. It wasn’t even enough to move him up the racetrack where I had position.”
“He just decided to end our day. So, I really appreciate that.”
Josh Berry comments
“Ryan got into me pretty good there,” Josh Berry rebutted.
He added, “I got up out of the Grove just trying to save it. And, we got together.”
Berry currently races for the Wood Brothers Racing. The team has a close alliance with Team Penske, Ryan Blaney’s team. However, in 2026, Berry is heading to Legacy Motor Club.
