2017 North/South 100 Menu

Heat 1
Round 1
Dale McDowell and Eddie Carrier Jr line up first in the debut heat of the night. Eddie Carrier Jr takes the lead on the outside in turn 1. Victor Lee battles his way the 2nd.
Carrier stretches out his lead early. Correction, the #6 is now reeling in the leader. But he’s going to run out of laps. Eddie Carrier Jr wins the first race of the night.
Heat 2
Round 1
Robby Hensley and Scott Bloomquist line up on row 1. Bloomquist hits the cushion in turn 1. Hensley in the middle. The bottom is open for Dohm. He jumps from 4th to fighting side by side with Bloomquist for the lead out of turn 2. Moran and Tyler Erb tangle. Caution.
Green, Hudson O’Neal is up to 2nd and the crowd is excited about it. Rightly so because the kid started 6th. But he slips on the high side, several kids get by.
Bloomquist disappears. He wins heat race #2.
Heat 3
Round 1
Steve Landrum and Kody Evans trail the pace truck. Evans spins his tires. He’s 4th at the flag stand.
Jonathan Davenport makes it 3 wide in turn 1. He’s coming quick. A charge to the front.
Last lap, Landrum leads. Davenport has been bouncing off the cushion the whole race. He’s got a run in turn 2. Not enough to get to his outside. He slides under his fuel cell. From the top to the inside in turn 3.
Davenport takes the lead and the win in the 3rd heat of round 1!
Heat 4
Round 1
Timothy Culp and Josh Richards lead the field to green. Richards and Culp run side by side in turn 1. The race for the lead continues down the back and into turn 3. Richards takes the top spot through the middle in turn 3.
Richards pulls away as Billy Moyer Jr is all over Culp for 2nd. Moyer gets a run out of 4. He pulls to the inside and completes the pass in turn 1.
Josh Richards wins heat number 4.
Heat 5
Round 1
Kyle Bronson and Jesse Lay at the line. Bronson takes the lead in turn 1. But it’s Overton putting on a show for 5th. He takes them 3 wide, bouncing off the cushion.
Overton isn’t done. He just passed two cars in one corner, then jumps off the cushion and to the middle off of turn 2. He splits them and takes more positions on the bottom in turn 3
He’s all over Bobby Pierce for 2nd. He slides him in turn 3, Pierce anticipates it. The #32 crosses under his fuel cell on the front straight and takes 2nd back in turn 1.
Car stopped on track, caution.
2 to go, Pierce to the cushion in turn 1. Bronson and Overton to the bottom. 3 wide for the lead off turn 2. Pierce slides Bronson in turn 3, new leader. Overton is dropping through the field quickly. Pierce wins heat 5!
Heat 6
Round 1
Roger Williams and Kent Robinson set row 1 in the final heat of round 1. It’s a crawl to the green, super slow start. Don O’Neal jumps from row 2, to the lead by the time they reach the stand. Caution, Steve Francis is involved.
Green, Don O’Neal is clear by 4 at the flag. He drives off into the distance. Francis is in the back bouncing off the wall and coming to the front. Caution.
Green, Don O’Neal is gone. He leads flag to flag in the final race of round 1.
Track prep underway.
Heat 1
Round 2
Jason Jameson and Jimmy Owens set row 1 in the first heat of round 2. Owens gets the jump and he’s gone.
Owens leads by a full straight at lap 10. Josh Richards started 10th, he’s up to 5th and working on Eckert for 4th. He gets it done and takes the position. That’s going to be a fair amount of passing points.
Jimmy Owens wins the first heat of round 2.
Heat 2
Round 2
Scott James and Shanon Buckingham grid first. Side by side into turn 1. Buckingham high, even. They cross on the exit. The cross again in 3-4. Caution, Culp is stopped on track.
Green, Buckingham gets a bad start. Boggs jumps him at the flag. Buckingham gathers it and starts reeling them back in. He low on Boggs in turn 1. He pulls under the rear bumper of James. Caution, Zeigler is around.
Lap 6, green flag. Buckingham low in 1-2. Even at the exit of 2. Even in 3-4. Still even down the back. Buckingham finally clears him at the exit of turn 2.
Buckingham fights back to win heat 2.
Heat 3
Round 2
Tim McCreadie and Adam Bowman trail the pace truck. McCreadie out front early. He’s checking out. Caution, Landrum is around.
Lap 3, the race resumes. McCreadie leads, Bowman 2nd. But the crowd is excited and it’s because Bloomquist. The #0 started 10th and he’s up to 4th, 3rd, 2nd.
Bloomquist makes it to 2nd but runs out of time. Major passing points there. Tim McCreadie wins heat 3.
Heat 4
Round 2
Mike Marlar and Michael Chilton lead the field to the line. Chilton takes the lead down low in turn 1. Marlar crosses on exit. Marlar low in turn 3, Marlar backs out. Chilton swings back to the lead on the outside. He opens a gap.
Mid race, Marlar coming back. He again looks low in turn 3. This time, no lift. New leader, Marlar. He drives off to win heat 4.
Heat 5
Round 2
Earl Pearson Jr and Billy Green line up on the front row. Caution, John Whitney is around. Green. Pearson takes the lead and disappears out of turn 2.
Good race for 2nd on back. They bang doors for both 2nd and for 5th. 3 wide back there. Chris Ferguson wins the battle against Latham for 2nd. But Pearson is well up the road.
Not so fast, the crowd is all excited again. Hudson O’Neal started 6th. He’s quickly reeling in Ferguson. Final lap, Hudson low in 1-2. Even down the back as hands touch the sky in the grandstands. Hudson puts in low in the final corner. Ferguson gases it on the cushion on entry. Wheel spin, Hudson drives away to finish 2nd.
3 seconds earlier, Earl Pearson Jr won heat 5.
Heat 6
Round 2
Gregg Satterlee and Devin Gilpin set row 1 in the final race of the night. Satterlee and Overton both fight for the top in turn 1. Satterlee runs about 5 feet off the wall, Overton on the wall. The #116 thinks about sticking it between Satterlee and the wall. He wisely lifts.
Satterlee continues to run high-middle. The bottom lane is open for Overton, he takes it but he can’t make it work. Overton back to the top.
He works the highside in 3-4, right on Satterlee’s bumper. He’s there, even with Satterlee. Overton takes the top away and completes the pass in turn 1 with just two laps to go.
Satterlee gives it another shot, too much throttle. Overton wins the final heat race of the night.
