Bubba Raceway Park results featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on February 11th, 2018

After a week at East Bay, the LOLMDS travels north. The teams unload at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida.

The track is an egg shaped 3/8 mile dirt track. Last year, this race provided a photo finish between Sheppard and Bloomquist. Tonights main event features a 50 lap show paying $10,000 to the winner.

Hot Laps

Josh Richards has stalled at the pit exit of his hot lap session. He gets a push back to the pit area from his crew. Richards is pulling out the backup car! They elect to fix the primary instead.

Qualifying

Tyler Erb set quick time. It’s his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series pole and I believe it’s his first time here.

Lap 7, the caution is out. Green, Tyler Erb and Boom Briggs get the jump on the bottom lane.

Heat 3 – Report

Tim McCreadie and Dennis Erb Jr lead them to the start. Green, McCreadie leads into turn 1.

The top row doesn’t move at all! Bloomquist falls to last off turn 2, he started 6th.

Tim McCreadie drives away! He picks up his first heat race win of the season!

Heat 4 – Report

The hometown kid, Tyler Clem and Morgan Bagley set the front row in the final heat race of the night. Green, Clem leads into turn 1. Pierce is all over his rear bumper and looking for the lead.

Lap 2, Clem opens up a gap. Lap 8, Pierce is closing again. But he’s going to run out of time.

Tyler Clem wins heat race number four at the track owned by his father.

At the checkered flag, the winner has lost power. Smoke comes out the back of his #14. The heat race winner comes to a stop on the back stretch. His motor his expired, he’s scheduled to start 4th in the A Main.

B Mains – Report

Track officials have scraped up the track after the heat races. A little scrap and a little water. We now have a completely different race track ahead of the the B Main.

Jason Fitzgerald won the first B Main of the night. He made a pass on the bottom in turn 1. The first pass for the lead of the night.

Don O’Neal fought off pressure from Brandon Sheppard to win B Main #2.

Main Event – Report

The 50 lap main event is next. 4 wide salute for the Ocala, FL dirt racing fans. Tyler Erb and Tim McCreadie will lead them to the start. Bloomquist takes a provisional for the last row.

Green, McCreadie leads into turn 1 by two cars lengths. Tyler Erb closes that gap quickly. They run side by side for the lead.

Contact! Erb to the lead McCreadie to 2nd. McCreadie has a flat left rear! The caution is out.

Green, Davenport throws it deep into turn 1 on the high side. He hits a jump and the car fails to turn. He gathers it back up and runs side by side for the lead. Erb nearly maintains the lead off turn 4 but Davenport had more momentum off the corner. Davenport wins the race back to turn 1 and he cuts back to the bottom.

Lap 7, trouble! Tyler Erb is stopped in turn 4.

Green, Richards moves to 2nd. Caution, car stopped in turn 2. Overton to the pits with a flat.

Green, Richards is working the high side as Davenport runs the bottom. Richards just barely pulls along side in turn 3. Davenport goes to the high side in turn 1 to block the move. Richards jumps the cushion. He loses 3 car lengths as he pulls it out of the loose stuff.

Davenport drops back to the bottom. Richards is coming quick. He pulls along side in turn 3.

The caution is out, car stopped on the front.

Lap 16, green flag, Davenport maintains the lead as the field migrates to the bottom.

Lap 26, the caution is out, Tyler Erb is slow on track.

Green, Earl Pearson Jr to 2nd in turn 1. The caution is out for Boom Briggs.

Green, Richards back to 2nd. Caution, McCreadie is slow down the back.

Green, Pearson to 2nd. Satterlee is tangled in turn 1, caution.

Lap 31, green flag, Trouble! Earl Pearson Jr and Josh Richards tangle in turn 1. Richards is turned sideways and heading down the banking. Owens somehow avoids it all.

But, Bobby Pierce has absolutely nowhere to go. Pierce t-bones Richards and lifts the #1 clear off the ground. Briggs piles into the parking lot as well as Lanigan. Pierce re-fires and hits the pit lane as does Lanigan, Richards and Briggs.

Green. Caution. Overton is stopped against the wall in turn 4.

Green, Davenport opens up a gap. 10 to go and lapped traffic is ahead.

2 laps to go, Pearson and Hudson O’Neal are running down Davenport. I think Davenport is just setting the pace so he doesn’t catch the lappers.

1 to go, Davenport opens the gap back up. Davenport wins at Bubba Raceway Park!
