Florence Speedway updates grandstand policy regarding alcohol

Fans will not be allowed to bring alcohol to the track in 2018

Lawyers from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control have informed Florence Speedway that fans cannot bring coolers of beer into the facility.

Previously, it was BYOB, if you’d like. Fans were allowed to fill a cooler of beer and head to the race track.

However, there’s a positive. The track is now asking for recommendations as they add more alcohol variety to their concessions.

Florence Speedway update announcement

Florence Speedway management wants to take this opportunity to inform our customers of some new policies that will be in place this season.

During discussions with lawyers from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, we have been informed of the following state law:

KRS 243.020(4) provides, “[a] licensee shall not permit any consumer to possess, give away, or drink alcoholic beverages on the licensed premises that are not purchased from the licensee.”

To simplify, this means that customers can not bring any alcohol(beer, wine, or liquor) into the stands, pit areas, or concession areas of the speedway. As this is a state law, this is non-negotiable and there are no exceptions. To comply with this our gate policy at most events will be changed to be:

No carry in or out of alcohol. One cooler 14″ X 14″ X 14″ max allowed. Coolers, bags, and other items may be searched at any time. Food and non-alcoholic drink are permitted. No glass bottles allowed.

We are looking into our options to expand what beers and other alcohols we have available for sale at the track. If you would like to see something specific carried, let us know at the track or send us a message. We are willing to carry anything that there is enough interest in. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but we really do not have a lot of choice in this matter.
