Dale Earnhardt race cars for sale at auction

Dale Earnhardt race cars join massive 20-car collection at auction this week; It includes the car that claimed his 7th NASCAR championship

If you don’t know anything about NASCAR, you still know the famed black No. 3 machine.

The Earnhardt Collection is set to roll across the auction block. It features 20 cars including 5 NASCAR race cars.

These aren’t show cars. They aren’t backup cars. These are actual race-driven race cars. One in particular, is a championship winning machine.

Last year, Dale Earnhardt’s yacht went up for sale. It was a yacht that he commissioned and had a hand in designing but was unable to take delivery before he died on February 18, 2001 at Daytona International Speedway.

Today, Dale Earnhardt cars are hard to come by. On Saturday, we’ll see a boat load of them. Three of the race cars were raced by Sr himself. Two more are NASCAR race cars of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

They are all heading to Phoenix for the Mecum Auctions event. The Earnhardt collection will cross the carpet on Saturday.

Let’s have a look at what you’ll see this weekend…

Chassis no. 9309 – 1994: The highlight of the collected dates back to a 1994 machine. In this very car, Earnhardt clinched his 7th and final NASCAR championship. That tied the NASCAR championship record with Richard Petty. It’s a record that remains to this day.

The 1994 chassis was driven at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Atlanta 500 were he finished 2nd. It’s expected to fetch the most of any car in the 20-car collection at an estimated $200,000 – $300,000.

1993: The Goodwrech #3 car in Orange. This car was a special one-off paint scheme featuring Wheaties on the hood.

The car finished 4th Place in the Winston Select race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 17, 1997. It’s expected to fetch $75,000 – $125,000 at the auction.

Chassis no. DEI8022: This car was from the 2004 NASCAR season. That was the best season Dale Earnhardt Jr ever had in the sport as he picked up six race wins that year.

This particular car won the Golden Corral 500. Dale Jr piloted it to victory lane on March 14, 2004 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

It features the originals. Original seat, headrest, racing components and it’s even signed by the driver. It’s expected to fetch between $125,000 – $175,000.

Chassis no. DEI011: This is the second DEI machine to roll across the block. It was also driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr in 2004.

It was driven at Watkins Glen International on August 13, 2006. It’s expected to draw $100,000 – $125,000.

Other parts of the Earnhardt Collection

2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Earnhardt Edition: This is 1 of 10 cars made in this Intimidator trim. And they didn’t roll out of the factory looking like this.

These cars were fabricated by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet. It features a highly modified, supercharged V8 boasting 704hp. The suspension and brakes were also upgrades along with the nose and rear spoiler. The spoiler and front splitter come with brackets similar to the race cars.

This particular car only has 126 miles on it. With the upgrades attached the car was listed new for $79,993. It’s expected to draw $40,000-50,000.

More Street Legal Cars: 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition Convertible (No.198 of 500); 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition Coupe (No. 1 of 234); 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha; 2001 Chevrolet Camaro SS Earnhardt Edition (No. 7 of 83); 2000 Chevrolet Camaro SS Earnhardt Edition; 1996 Chevrolet Camar0 Z28 Earnhardt Edition (No 3 of 3); 1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Earnhardt Edition (No. 3 of 7); 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hall of Fame Edition (No. 7 of 10); 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition (16 Miles); 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hall of Fame Edition (No. 10 of 10); 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha;

Notable: It’s rare to see a near 40-year-old car in brand new condition. The 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition is exactly that, with just 16 miles on it. However, the trim is fairly common at 1 of 6,502 Pace Car Editions built.

Sold, sold, sold! 19 of 20 cars in the Earnhardt Collection will be sold with no reserve. The highest bidder is the new guaranteed owner. The exception is Dale Earnhardt Sr’s 1989 NASCAR Lumina which will have a minimum bid before sale is final.
