NASCAR suspends crew member indefinitely

The crew member failed to notify NASCAR of a misdemeanor and/or felony per the rule book

Jeffrey W. Merritt has been indefinitely suspended by NASCAR. He was in violation of Section 2.11.a in the rule book.

Section 2.11.a: “Any NASCAR Member charged with any violation of the law (misdemeanor and/or felony) shall notify NASCAR … prior to the next scheduled Event or within 72 hours of being so charged, whichever is earlier.”

Jeffrey Merritt was most recently listed as the front end mechanic for the No. 22 truck of the AM Racing team. The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series returns to the track this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.

Note: Lug nut(s) not properly installed.

Penalty: Crew chief (Chris Gabehart) has been fined $10,000.
