Furniture Row Racing crew members suspended after pit road altercation with #18 crew at Indianapolis
The #78 pit crew is hired and managed by Joe Gibbs Racing.
Joe Gibbs Racing has responded to the situation at the Brickyard 400. While the teams share different owners, JGR manages the crews for both involved.
Adam Stevens, crew chief for Kyle Busch walked by the #78 box after the Indianapolis tangle. One #78 crew member shouted, “Tell Kyle ‘Good job’ ” then began aggressive clapping.

The #78 crew shouted at Adam Stevens, “I don’t care who you are – get out of my box.”
Stevens replied, “Alright, cowboy.”
Now, Joe Gibbs Racing has stepped in.
They have suspended multiple crew members on the pit box for Martin Truex Jr
Front-tire changer Chris Taylor is the first suspended. Additionally, rear-tire changer Lee Cunningham is suspended as well.
Each listed member of the #78 crew will be on vacation for three races.
Martin Truex Jr currently leads the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings by 48 points. He’s now lost two important pieces of his over the wall pit crew.
However, Furniture Row Racing supports the decision by Joe Gibbs Racing. They’ve issued a statement on the in-house suspensions handed out by the opposing team.
Furniture Row Racing statement:Â “Our No. 78 pit crew is hired, trained and managed by Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Furniture Row Racing team owner Barney Visser.
He continued, “They are one of the best pit crews on the circuit and have kept us up front all season. We admire the talent and dedication of our pit crew and support all of the decisions and actions taken by Joe Gibbs Racing.”
