The NASCAR driver says, “I didn’t really have a huge plan.”
On Saturday, NASCAR was catapulted into the national news spotlight after the race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar traded punches on the pit lane after contact late in the race.
Since the fight on Saturday night, Blaney hasn’t done any interviews. However, he just sat down with Denny Hamlin’s podcast.

“So, I just handed Hassler my phone. I just said, ‘Hold this.’ And I left. And he had no idea what that meant,” Ryan Blaney stated via the Actions Detrimental podcast.
“Not as cool as RC, ‘Hold my watch.’ But you know, so I walk over there.”
Richard Childress once told Kyle Busch to hold his watch before punching him in the face. This was well before Childress hired Busch as his driver.
Blaney continued, “I didn’t really have a huge plan. The only plan of mine was, I’m going to have a stern conversation with Carson. I wasn’t planning on throwing anything.”
“I just really wanted to grab him and pretty much yell at him and show my displeasure. Now granted, I kinda pushed him at the chest. And grabbed him pretty aggressively.”
“That… You’re probably going to defend yourself. And he rightfully did.
“When that happened, I was like, ‘Okay, well I should probably return fire at this point.’ And so, I had that prepared. And then Allen, the security guy, he got me. He subdued that pretty quick.”
“I’ll be honest with you. I want over there and I got my (expletive) kicked for sure.”
“I ate a two piece and got tagged pretty good. But, I just wanted to show my displeasure.”
The NASCAR Cup Series is back at it this weekend. The Chase continues on the 1.5-mile of Kansas Speedway. Both Hocevar and Blaney are in The Chase battle.
