Bristol Motor Speedway: Pre-Race Inspection Issues

Kevin Harvick’s crew member has been ejected; He’ll also serve a pass through penalty at the start of the race

Pre-race inspection is currently underway at Bristol Motor Speedway.

There’s already news out of the inspection line. Kevin Harvick has failed three passes through the inspection line.

They did pass inspection on the 4th attempt.

The failure is related to mechanical measurements on the laser.

Per the rules, Kevin Harvick will be forced to the rear of the field for the start of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

NASCAR will eject a crew member of the #4 team of their choosing. The #4 team has lost their race engineer for today’s event.

In addition, Kevin Harvick will be forced to serve a pass through penalty at the start of the race. That will be completed after the first pass of the start finish line. This is the first time we’ve seen this penalty since the new inspection penalties went into place.

It doesn’t stop there. Harvick will also loose 30 minutes of practice time next weekend.

Kevin Harvick was scheduled to start 13th at Bristol Motor Speedway. Now, he’ll be a lap down or more early in the event.

Harvick was quickest in 30-lap runs following final practice. He was expected to be one of the cars to beat.

Preece: Ryan Preece will also start from the rear. Not due to inspection issues. Preece had a trackbar break on his machine. The team has since fixed it which will force them to the rear.
