iRacing Clash: Nearly the whole field crashes in final lap (Videos)

38 cars went 49 laps caution free at Daytona in the eNASCAR Championship Series race; The last lap took out the field

eNASCAR World Championship Series 2020 Clash took place last night at Daytona International Speedway. It was an exhibition event ahead of the 2020 points championship events.

Watch the 2020 iRacing Clash crash videos below.

iRacing is not a game, that’s especially the case at the World Championship level. This is big deal stuff.

Anticipation is high for the new season. Coca-Cola just signed an entitlement sponsorship deal with the online racing sanction.

With the new sponsorship, the payouts have significantly increased for the year-long championship battle. $300,000 is now on the line in the points fund alone with $100,000 going to the series champion.

Back to last night’s race…

Why do I say iRacing isn’t a game? Try and find an XBox 360 room with 38 drivers that can turn 49 laps caution free at Daytona International Speedway.

With the strength of field at 6893, anything is possible. The field went 3 and four wide for 49 laps, caution free.

The white flag dropped. Malik Ray led the outside lane. However, he was left out to dry as the field went under him down the back stretch.

That forced the field four wide heading into the final corner, chaos ensued. Nearly the entire field, crashed. Really, they all crashed. Just a few crashed less than the others and somebody had to win it.

John Gorlinsky is a driver for William Byron’s iRacing team. He was running 16th as they took the white flag.

Gorlinsky grabbed the race win after splitting cars and bouncing off the wall to avoid more spinning cars. It’s his 254th career oval win on the service.

Christian Challiner finished the race in 2nd. He was 15th at the white.

Logan Clampitt was running 30th of the 38 car field at the white flag. He drove through the entire field of crashed cars and came out with a 3rd place run. His on-board video is also shown below.

John Gorlinsky and William Byron on the win

The winner tweeted, “This went exactly how we drew it up in the pre-race meeting. #Closeyoureyesandswatsomeflies to make it through the calamity on the last lap! Still can’t believe we took the @WBeSports_ Chevy to the winners circle on the unofficial beginning to the @iRacing #eNASCAR season!”

“Pretty awesome wreck avoidance. Nick Ottinger got the Pole and John the W. Good ‘unofficial’ start,” William Byron stated via twitter.
