NASCAR team owner Chip Ganassi fined and suspended
Over the weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series returned to Daytona Beach, Florida. The Daytona Road Course hosted a triple-header weekend for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Truck Series.
Chip Ganassi has been fined $30,000 and suspended for 1 race. The team owner will not be allowed to attend the racing action this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Series officials clarified that the penalty was, “for bringing into the competition area a non-essential individual that was restricted from the footprint.”
Chip Ganassi Racing field the No. 1 driven by Kurt Busch and the No. 42 driven by Ross Chastain.
This weekend, NASCAR heads to Homestead-Miami Speedway. The team owner’s two entries will be able to compete.
Additionally, two NASCAR Cup Series crew chiefs have been fined $10,000 each for lugnut violations found after the event.
