Richmond Race Results: September 11, 2021 (NASCAR Xfinity Series)

NASCAR Xfinity race results from Richmond Raceway; Dale Earnhardt Jr returns to the seat

Today, it’s a double-header at the 0.75-mile of Richmond Raceway. First up, the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes the green flag in the Go Bowling 250.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is returning to the field. It’s his first race since last year and he’ll be coming from 30th.

Austin Cindric and Harrison Burton lead them to the starting line. 250 laps of short track racing are up next…

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 75 (1-75 / 250)

Green flag, Cindric noses ahead on the inside of turn one. Burton holds 2nd off turn two.

Lap 20, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Josh Williams rub fenders. Earnhardt has been trapped behind him for several laps.

Lap 30, Cindric leads Burton by 1 second. Earnhardt Jr has climbed to 19th.

Lap 35, the competition caution is out.

Dale Jr radio on Williams: “I’m having fun. Don’t know if he is. I don’t remember where the corners of the car are. I hit him off turn two, twice.”

Josh Williams radio on Dale Jr: “I don’t care if he’s a hero or not. There’s a ton of room out here to pass me, use it.”

Issues for Jeb Burton as he’s parked on the pit lane with an electrical issue.

Green, AJ Allmendinger gets a jump from row teo and he makes it three wide for the lead into turn one. Cindric holds him off on the outside lane.

Lap 46, Allmendinger has another run into turn one. He dives to the inside of Cindric and takes over the lead. Justin Allgaier works to the outside of Cindric and takes 2nd away via the outside lane.

Lap 53, Tommy Joe Martins installed new tires during the competition caution. He’s climbed to 4th and he’s coming for the stage win.

Lap 65

Lap 65, martins has climbed to 2nd. Allmendinger leads by 0.5 seconds.

8 to go in stage one, Martins is all over the bumper of Allmendinger. He dives to the inside in turn three but can’t complete the pass.

6 to go, Martins to the race lead.

3 to go, Allmendinger fights back on the inside but Martins defends on the top.

Final lap, Martins gets held up by a lap car off turn four! Allmendinger has a run and they race side by side to the line.

AJ Allmendinger wins stage one at Richmond Raceway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 75 (76-150 / 250)

The field heads to the pit lane. Cindric wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage two, Cindric and Daniel Hemric run side by side into turn one. Hemric wins the battle on the outside lane!

Lap 86, Tommy Joe Martins spins and the caution is out.

Green, Hemric leads on the inside lane. Cindric holds 2nd.

Lap 98, Ty Gibbs has climbed to the bumper of Hemric. He clears him on the inside off turn two, Gibbs to the lead.

Lap 105

Lap 105, Dale Eanrhardt Jr has moved into the top 10 for the first time of this race. He started 30th.

Lap 125, Gibbs leads Allmendinger by 1.3 seconds. However, he’s working heavy lap traffic.

4 to go in stage two, McLaughlin is slow and he’s trying to get to the apron. He cuts right across the nose of Jade Buford and McLaughlin spins. The caution is out.

Ty Gibbs takes the stage two win under caution at Richmond Raceway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 100 (151-250 / 250)

The field hits the pit lane. Gibbs is first on but Hemric wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage three, Gragson noses ahead on the inside of turn one. Hemric fights back on the outside in turn three, Gragson holds the lead.

Lap 166, Gibbs works to the outside of Gragson in the battle for the lead. He drives right by off turn four, Gibbs returns to the lead.

Lap 170, Colby Howard spins off turn four, caution.

Green, Gibbs spins the tires on the outside lane. Harrison Burton noses ahead on the inside lane.

Lap 183

Lap 183, Landon Cassill has stalled, caution.

Burton, Gibbs and most of the leaders his the pit lane for their last set of tires. Many stay out. They’ll restart 10th on back.

Green, Sam Mayer wins the race into turn one. They run three and four wide behind them as the new tires fly through the field.

Lap 189, Harrison Burton is slicing through the field. He’s up to 3rd already.

59 to go, Burton to the inside of Mayer in the battle for the lead. He cruises right by, with ease on new tires.

45 to go, Burton leads Gibbs by 1.3 seconds.

27 to go

27 to go, Josh Williams gets turned and the caution is out. This plays right into the hands of the drivers who saved a set of tires on the last pit stop.

Harrison Burton and Gibbs both pit for scuffs. They’re out of sticker tires.

Pit Penalty: Jeb Burton and Dale Earnhardt Jr are both handed pit penalties. They’ll go to the tail of the field.

AJ Allmendinger and Austin Cindric line up on the front row on old tires. Haley restarts 13th, the first car with fresh tires.

Green, Allmendinger leads into turn one. Harrison Burton takes them four wide behind them for 5th. Tommy Joe Martins is in the wall, caution.

Green, Allmendinger leads as Gragson works the outside lane. Gragson gets to his right right and clears him for the lead.

13 to go

13 to go, Jeremy Clements spins off turn four, caution.

Green, Gragson is clear into turn one as John Hunter Nemechek takes over 2nd.

6 to go, Haley runs deep into turn one and forces Gibbs wide as he takes 5th away.

4 to go, Hlaey works inside of Nemechek for 2nd. He clears him, by inches off turn four.

3 to go, Gragson leads Haley by 1 second.

1 to go, Gragson leads by a half second. Haley closes to within a car length in turn three but he’s out of time.
