Today, the NASCAR Cup Series unloads in Kansas City, KS. It’s race two of three in the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Playoffs, just two races remain after this event.

Kansas Race
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 80 (1-80 / 267)

Green flag, Larson gets a huge push from Kyle Busch. However, Larson and Blaney remain side by side off turn two. Larson finally clears Blaney on the outside of turn three.

Lap 9, there’s a few rain drops on the front stretch. The green is still out.

Lap 10, the caution is out for rain.

Green, Larson and Keselowski run side by side into turn one and off turn two. Larson clears him on the outside back into turn one.

Lap 23, Kyle Busch slows with a flat right front after tagging the wall and the caution is out.

Larson leads the field to the pit lane. Almirola and DiBenedetto take fuel only.

Green, DiBenedetto is clear before turn one. They run three wide for 2nd, Larson takes that spot off turn two.

Larson works to the outside of DiBenedetto in turn three and clears him off turn four. DiBenedetto fights back to retake the lead into turn one.

Lap 30

Lap 30, Larson has a run into turn one. He side drafts DiBenedetto and then dives to the inside, Larson returns to the lead.

Lap 33, Chase Elliott dives to the inside of Larson, Elliott take over the lead.

Lap 35, Byron drives it deep to the inside of Elliott and clear him for the lead. Elliott pulls back alongside but gets loose under him, Larson drives by on the outside then dives to the inside of Byron to return to the lead.

Lap 37, Brad Keselowski slows with a flat tire after brushing the wall. He hits the pit lane under green.

Lap 52, Martin Truex Jr slows with a flat tire. He heads for the pits under green.

Lap 72, Blaney hits the pit lane under green with a flat tire.

Kyle Larson cruises to the win in stage one at Kansas Speedway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 80 (81-160 / 267)

Green flag on stage two, Larson clears Byro off turn two to hold the lead.

Lap 90, Larson and Elliott run side by side for the lead. After several laps, Elliott finally clears him on the inside.

Lap 93, Byron to the lead. Moments later, Elliott to the lead. Hendrick Motorsports drivers dice at the front early in runs.

Lap 124, Bubba Wallace hits the pit lane under green to begin the pit cycle. The leaders follow shortly after.

Lap 133, Kyle Busch hits the wall for the second time! He hits the pit lane for new tires, his second stop in just ten laps.

Lap 142, Logano has yet to pit. He’s hoping for a caution as Byron runs 2nd, 21 seconds behind him.

Lap 146, Logano pits from the lead. Byron cycles back to the race leader.

William Byron wins stage two at Kansas!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 107 (161-267 / 267)

Byron leads the field to the pit lane. Larson wins the race to the oit exit.

Green flag on stage three, Larson and Byron run side by side into turn one and off turn two. They remain side by side.

Lap 170, As Larson and Byron run side by side and fight for space, Tyler Reddick jumps to the outside of both of the into turn one. Three wide for the lead, Larson finally wins the battle.

Lap 172, Larson gets tight and pushes up the track off turn four. Reddick has a run and dives to the inside in turn one. Anthony Alfredo is up in smoke behind them, caution. Reddick was inches ahead at the last timing line.

Harvick pits from 3rd and many behind him follow. Reddick and Larson stay out, they’re the only two to stay out.

Pit Penalty: Bubba Wallace will drop to the tail after speeding on the pit lane.

Green, Larson hangs onto the right rear of Reddick off turn two. Kurt Busch makes it three wide for the lead, Larson wins the race into turn three and retakes the lead.

Lap 186, Byron dives to the inside of Larson. He side drafts into turn three and takes the spot as Larson gets loose on the inside. Kurt Busch takes 2nd away with Harvick in 3rd.

60 to go, Larson gets loose and brushes the wall off turn two. Moments later, Keselowski pits after brushing the wall.

50 to go

50 to go, Ryan Newman spins and the caution is out.

Byron leads the field to the pit lane and the pit exit. Kurt Busch is off 2nd.

Byron is forced to pit a second time as the crew missed some lugs. He’ll restart 14th.

Green, Kurt Busch leads Harvick into turn one. Elliott works the outside and gets to the right rear of Busch. They form three wide for the lead, Elliott wins the battle.

44 to go, Austin Dillon gets loose under Ryan Blaney and they make contact, Blaney slaps the wall. The caution is out.

Green, Larson and Elliott run side by side into turn one. Harvick dives to the inside to make it three wide for the lead, Larson wins the battle off turn two.

31 to go, Larson leads Harvick by a car length.

25 to go, Tyler Reddick hits the pit lane under green with an issue.

14 to go, Harvick has to get out of the gas to avoid the wall. Elliott drives by on the inside to take 2nd away. Larson leads by 1.4 seconds.

6 to go, Elliott closes the gap to just 0.6 seconds. However, he’s running inches from the outside wall and he’s just brushed the wall off turn two. A lap later, he brushes it again. The next lap, yet again. Elliott is using up his car.
