Phoenix testing results from the final test session with the NASCAR Next Gen car

Today, the NASCAR Cup Series took to the 1-mile track of Phoenix Raceway. It’s the final testing session for the NASCAR Next Gen car which makes it’s official race debut in about 2 weeks.

Over the last few months, NASCAR has run several different packages at various size tracks. The rules package for short tracks was previously set.

Short Track Rules Package: 670 target horsepower with a 4-inch spoiler.

The car continues to be a challenge. Todd Gilliland spun earlier this afternoon and made light contact with the outside wall.

Ryan Blaney topped the Wednesday practice session. He turned a lap time of 27.292 with an average speed of 131.907
