Martinsville Speedway race length adjusted

The race will be shortened for the first time since 1956

Martinsville Speedway is a half-mile short track in Martinsville, VA. The track hosts two NASCAR Cup Series events each season.

Every NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville has been scheduled for 500 laps, since 1957. Jack Smith won the one and only 400 lap race on Oct. 28, 1956

That streak comes to an end in the early portion of the 2022 season. The Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 is scheduled at just 400 laps.

Stages: 80/180/400

The Spring race at Martinsville is the first night race of the 2022 season. The laps have been adjusted due to the start time of the race.

When the series returns in the fall for the Xfinity 500, the race will return to the typical 500 lap event.
