LA Clash Race Results: February 6, 2022 (NASCAR Cup Series)

NASCAR results from the Busch Clash at the Los Angeles Coliseum

It’s here, the Busch Light Clash is set to drop the green flag for a door banging main event. The 1/4-mile track inside the famed LA Coliseum is set to host the NASCAR Cup Series in the state of California.

Four heat races and two LCQ races were used to set the starting lineup for today’s race. They also sent 13 cars home early as just 23 cars are on the grid for the feature.

This is an exhibition race to open the 2022 season. No points are on the line. However, there’s a purse of $1,967,000 on the line.

Kyle Busch and Tyler Reddick set the front row. 150 laps of short track racing are up next…

Green flag, Busch and Reddick run even into turn one and off turn two. They remain even a full lap. Finally, Busch clears him on the inside and Reddick drops in behind him to hold 2nd.

Lap 4, Busch runs wide into turn one. Reddick looks to his inside off turn three and takes the lead away into turn three.

Lap 17, Reddick has caught the tail of the field. Kyle Busch closes right to his bumper after trailing by four car lengths just a few laps prior.

Lap 27, Denny Hamlin works inside of race leader Reddick. Hamlin was a lap down, as he completes the pass, he’s back on the lead lap.

Lap 45, Reddick leads Busch by 1.2 seconds. Without traffic, he opens the gap.

Lap 54

Lap 54, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is around and the caution is out. Hamlin heads to the pit lane with an issue.

Just ahead of the restart, Chase Briscoe has lost power. He gets a push to the infield with a driveline issue.

The race leader has come to a stop! More issues on the caution! Tyler Reddick has lost drive as well. He coasts to a stop and gets a push to the infield. Kyle Busch has been handed the lead.

Green, Busch leads into turn one. Logano tucks in behind him and holds 2nd.

Lap 66, Chase Elliott is around at the entry to turn three and the caution is back out.

Green, Busch and Logano run even into turn one. Busch is able to clear him and hold the lead. Justin Haley works inside of William Byron to take 3rd.

Lap 75, Joey Logano gets into the bumper of Kyle Busch! He moves him up the track and takes the lead. However, he didn’t make the move soon enough as the next lap won’t be complete.

Race Break

Lap 76, the race break caution is out. The entire field will head for the pit lane to make adjustments as needed. The filed is frozen.

Green flag, Busch and Byron run even into turn one. Busch holds the lead off turn two. Logano works inside of Byron for 2nd but Kyle Larson takes them three wide! Larson to 2nd.

Lap 109, Logano works by Larson to reclaim 2nd. Kyle Busch has opened the gap but he’s closing on the tail of the field.

40 to go, Busch has caught the tail of the field. Logano is all over his bumper.

35 to go

35 to go, Ryan Blaney slows after contact with Erik Jones and the caution is out.

Blaney tosses his Hans device at the car of Erik Jones under caution.

Green, Busch and Logano rubs doors into turn one. They remain side by side, Logano noses ahead on the outside!

William Byron shoves Justin Haley into Kyle Larson. As the roll the front stretch, Kyle Larson turns left and shoves Justin Haleyinto the inside wall behind them, caution.

Green, Logano leads into turn one. Larson drops down behind him to take 2nd away.

25 to go, Busch has a run on Larson into turn three. Larson tries to block but Busch forces his way inside and retakes 2nd.

18 to go, Austin Dillon gets into the rear bumper of Larson and takes 3rd away. Larson is trapped on the outside lane and dropping fast.

12 to go, Busch has closed to the bumper of Logano as they battle for the lead.

5 to go, Busch remains on the bumper of Logano! They close on lap traffic.

2 to go, Logano has caught the tail of the field. Busch fades from his bumper.
