Stage 1 – Report

Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott Sonoma Raceway - NASCAR Cup Series

Green flag, Larson and Elliott run side by side through turn one. Larson noses ahead off of turn two.

Lap 10, Bubba Wallace is up in smoke with a blown engine and the caution is out.

Kyle Busch, Byron, Allmendinger and others hit the pit lane.

Green, Larson is clear into turn one. Elliott holds 2nd.

Lap 22, Chris Buescher has a run on Elliott into turn 7. He takes 2nd away.

3 to go in stage one, many hit the pit lane.

2 to go in stage one, Busch pits from 2nd as Elliott and others follow.

Kyle Larson stays out and wins stage one at Sonoma Raceway!

Laps: 30 (26-55 / 110)

Only 5 cars didn’t pit in stage one. Larson heads for the pit lane and hands the lead to Elliott. Larson restarts outside the top 20.

Green flag on stage two, Elliott is clear into turn one. Chris Buescher clears Chastain to take 2nd.

Lap 40, Chris Buescher is all over the bumper of Elliott in the battle for the lead. Larson has climbed to 18th.

“It’s a joke, horrible,” Kyle Busch says of his handling issues. Busch is running 26th.

Lap 45, Elliott has driven away from Buscher. He leads by 1 second.

Lap 48, Ross Chastain is around in turn 7, no caution. He tried to dive inside of Suarez for 3rd and the backend stepped out.

3 to go in stage two, many cars head for the pit lane.

2 to go in stage two, Elliott pits from the lead, he brings Buescher, Suarez and Harvick with him. Slow stop for Elliott as they missed the left rear lug.

Pit Penalties: Elliott pitted outside the box and Reddick was too fast on pit road. They will serve a pass through or restart at the tail.

Joey Logano stays out to win stage two at Sonoma Raceway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 55 (26-55 / 110)

Logano and others that stayed out hit the pit lane. Chris Buescher is handed the race lead.

Green flag on stage three, Buescher and Suarez run side by side through turn one and turn two. Buescher misses turn 4 and Suarez takes over the lead!

46 to go, Tyler Reddick spins with a mechanical issue and Josh Bilicki is collected. No caution as Reddick heads for the pit lane.

45 to go, Harvick works outside of McDowell into turn one. He has the inside for turn two, Harvick takes 2nd away.

41 to go, Chris Buescher dives inside of Harvick into turn 11. Buescher takes 2nd away.

34 to go, green flag pit stops are underway. Suarez leads Buescher by 1.5 seconds.

30 to go, Buescher pits from 2nd and Harvick follows him from 3rd. Slow stop for Harvick as they have to jack up the left side twice.

Chastain pits and he also has an issue. Chastain pulls out of his box then backs up as the crew jacks up the car a second time.

29 to go, Suarez pits from the lead.

28 to go

28 to go, Kyle Larson has lost a wheel after his pit stop! The caution is out.

The rest of the field hits the pit lane. Suarez cycles back to the lead.

Green, Suarez gets the jump. Buescher and McDowell run side by side for 2nd, Buescher wins that battle in turn 3.

Kyle Busch locks up the rear tires and spins in turn 7, no caution.

22 to go, Buescher is on the bumper of Suarez in the battle for the lead.

12 to go, Suarez leads Buescher by 0.5 seconds. They’ve checked out on the rest of the field.

6 to go, Suarez has opened the gap to 2 seconds.

2 to go, AJ Allmendinger is off track and in the tire wall but he’s able to keep it rolling.

Daniel Suarez wins at Sonoma Raceway! It’s his first career win in the series.
