Kyle Larson talks ‘list’ of NASCAR drivers angry at Ross Chastain

“Ross has like a two-page list of guys, it seems. It’s the Cup Series, we’ve seen in the past that people will make life tough on ya.”

Ross Chastain has been building a long list of enemies. Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr are just a short list from the last month or so.

Three races from now, the NASCAR Playoffs begin. With the way the eliminations are setup, drivers need to perform in four consecutive rounds.

It’s not good to have drivers with payback on their minds as you roll into a 10 race playoff. A crash in any round could put any driver at risk of elimination. And when half the field owes payback to Ross Chastain, he’s not likely to have a good time.

Specifically, Denny Hamlin has been taken out by Ross Chastain, twice. Hamlin previously stated that he would make it difficult on Chastain, adding when it matters the most. He already crashed Chastain for the win at Pocono Raceway. However, Hamin has since hinted that he’s not done.

Kyle Larson is the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion. He expects the playoffs to be difficult on Chastain.

“The only guy I had a run-in with last year was Bell. Thankfully you only have to worry about one person during the playoffs,” Kyle Larson stated.

“But, I did worry about it. I remember Texas, not that he was going to wreck me. I just didn’t know if he would work with me.”

“Ross has like a two-page list of guys, it seems. It’s the Cup Series, we’ve seen in the past that people will make life tough on ya.”

“When he does have issues with guys in the race, he still recovers from it. But, I feel like that can only last so long.”

“But, it will be a cool little story to follow. He’s had probably the fastest car, most weekends. If they didn’t have people mad at them I think they’d be the championship favorite.”

“I can’t imagine that with everybody that seems to be upset with him that it will be an easy playoff for him.”

Aggression in NASCAR

“He’s been very aggressive and it’s gotten him good finishes,” Larson added.

“Brad Keselowski and Ross remind me a lot of each other. I didn’t get to race Brad early in his career be I feel like he had a lot of guys not enjoying racing with him, early in his career.”

“He kinda had to figure that out. And, now I don’t picture Brad as being an aggressive type of driver at all. With age or maturity, maybe you figure it out.”

“Ross has had a lot of success being aggressive. With the way the Next Gen car and really racing of all forms has progressed, I think you have to have that aggression. But, maybe to a point.”

“I know a lot of the times, it’s been mistakes and stuff. I think his agreesion’s good but in a 10-race playoff, maybe not.”

The NASCAR Playoffs begin in September at Darlington Raceway.
