4. Dale Earnhardt Jr (#3) Late Model
Car: Sun Drop Late Model
Race: North Wilkesboro Speedway (August 31, 2022)
Last year, the state of North Carolina used funds from the state budget to help fund development at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Rockingham Speedway. It also funded a total resurrection of the famed North Wilkesboro Speedway. After several years with no track activity, the gates opened for a CARS Tour event. Dale Earnhardt Jr added his name to the entry list and it was a sold out crowd.
Another interesting note about this die-cast is that the initial mold was not a late model stock car but an Xfinity car. Dale Jr was disappointed with the mold and Lionel elected to fix it, releasing an update using an actual late model mold, opening the door for short track teams from across the country to sell die-casts.
