Here are the most sold diecasts of the 2021 NASCAR season featuring a surprise winner
They tell me Christmas is just around the corner. Personally, as a new resident of Southern Florida who also lacks a Christmas tree, I can’t tell.
But, are you looking for last minute gift ideas from the avid NASCAR fan in your life, here’s a good start.
Lionel is a popular maker of NASCAR diecasts. Every year, they release a list of the most popular toy cars throughout the season.
This year, four drivers compile the Top 10: Kevin Havick, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and Bubba Wallace.
This year’s list is slightly more varied than previous years. In 2020, Elliott grabbed 8 of the top 10 spots available. This year, his diecast domination grab just 4 spots but he remains the most used name on the list.

Car: McDonald’s Toyota Talladega win
Info: Bubba Wallace drove to his first career victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 2021. The rain fell as Wallace was leading. The race never resumed after attempts to dry the track. Wallace was declared the winner.

Car: Hooters Chevrolet throwback from Darlington
Info: Every year Darlington hosts a throwback race which brings paint schemes of old back to the track. Chase Elliott and Hooters threw it back to the days of Alan Kulwicki who drove the No. 7 Hooters car in the 90’s.

Info: Kyle Larson was suspended by NASCAR in 2020 following a slut used during an online race. Within days, he was fired by Chip Ganassi Racing. Larson returned to the dirt tracks and began a pure domination tour. He returned to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2021. In his fourth race with his new #5 team, Larson drove to victory lane at LVMS.

Car: Llumar Chevrolet COTA win
Info: For the first time, NASCAR visited the Circuit of the Americas. The track saw torrential rain throughout the race. Hard crashes were a result of poor visibility. In the end, Chase Elliott stood at the top of the podium, winning the first race on the Texas road course.

Info: The car is a reverse scheme of the typical Hooters paint scheme. It features a matte black base which is rarely seen on Hendrick Motorsports machines due to the Axalta partnership. The car was used during the altercation with Kevin Harvick at Bristol Motor Speedway.
