Scott Bloomquist going in for cancer surgery

The dirt late model star was forced to miss an appearance at Moberly Motorsports Park

Moberly Motorsports Park is a 4/10-mile dirt track. The track is located in Moberly, Missouri.

The track is owned by Reid Millard and managed by Kevin Gundaker of Tri-City Speedway. On Tuesday night, Midwest track welcomed the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour.

Scott Bloomquist is a legend in dirt track racing. However, in recent months has hasn’t spent much time behind the wheel due to multiple injuries on his leg, shoulder and more.

Scott Bloomquist and Ken Schrader were set to be in attendance at the Missouri dirt track. Together, the pair were set to put on a show for the fans. And apparently, part of that included a podcast as well as an autograph session with the fans.

However, Bloomquist was not able to attend. The track owner posted a social media video to explain the absence…

Reid Millard comments on Scott Bloomquist’s surgery

“We had the plane ready to go down and pick him up today at 2:00. However, he’s experienced some health issues,” Moberly Motorsports Park owner Reid Millard shared via a Facebook video.

“He’s had some cancer going on and we want to give him prayers for that. Thought he was going to be out next week with more appointments. But, it looks like he’s going in for surgery.”

“He personally wanted me to tell you that. He was really looking forward to coming up to the racetrack tonight, but things have changed a little bit, health wise for him.”

“He’s looking forward to getting through this. As well as some other injuries.”

“He was in a boating accident in the off-season last year. An off-shore boating accident where several guys had to go to the hospital on a deep sea diving trip.”

Reid Millard added, “Keep Scott in your prayers.”

Bloomquist has collected over 800 dirt late model feature wins. Along the way, he’s claimed 9 national series championships.

The driver is 59-years-old. Several years ago, he injured his leg in a motorcycle crash. Since, he suffered from numbness in his leg and that’s been followed by multiple surgeries.

Cancer has not been previously reported as a medical issue.
