On the 30-year anniversary, the Brickyard 400 returns
In 1994, the NASCAR Cup Series made their debut at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Brickyard 400 became an instant crown jewel event.
In recent years, the track struggled with uneventful NASCAR races. They elected to make a change.
For 2021, instead of using the oval, the NASCAR Cup Series ran on the infield road course. The Brickyard name was dropped from the event with the Verizon 200 in it’s place. That trend continued through 2023.
The event was run as an Indycar/NASCAR double-header weekend. It appears that will no longer be the case moving forward.
