Richard Childress Racing will have a new driver in the No. 2 car for 2024

On Wednesday, Sheldon Creed announced he win not return to Richard Childress Racing for the 2024 season. It appears that Creed has elected to move to another team, per a statement from the driver.

Creed signed with Richard Childress Racing for the 2022 season. In 66 Xfinity Series races in his career, Creed has gone winless. However, he has 9 career top-5 runs, all of which came in the last two seasons.

Creed remains in the battle for the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship.

Richard Childress Racing announces Sheldon Creed will not return in 2024

“Sheldon Creed will not be returning as the driver of the No. 2 Whelen Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024,” Richard Childress Racing stated via X.

The team added, “We will make an announcement regarding the driver of the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet in the near future.”

Sheldon Creed comments

“We have decided to leave Richard Childress Racing at the end of the 2023 Xfinity Series,” Sheldon Creed stated via X.

“RCR and Whelen gave me my first opportunity out of the truck series and although we haven’t gone out and won all the races we would’ve wished to, I’ll be forever gateful for the friendships, hard word, learning and growing we have done.”

Creed concluded, “Additionally, I can’t thank Whelen enough for their never ending support of me and out team. Extremely excited to share my 2024 plans with you all soon.”

Creed collected 8 wins in NASCAR Truck Series competition.
