NASCAR rescinds penalty issued to Ryan Blaney at Las Vegas

On Sunday, NASCAR raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event was the opening race in the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Playoffs.

Hours after the event, NASCAR announced that Ryan Blaney has been disqualified. NASCAR stated, they “deemed the left-front damper on the No. 12 car did not meet the overall specified length.”

NASCAR Rule Book: Section 14.11.3.5

The No. 12 Team Penske machine is regulated to a last place finish. All 8 stage points earned have also been removed.

Only two elimination races remain before the championship finale. This penalty will make it an uphill battle for the 29-year-old.

Blaney is one of the 8 drivers battling for a spot in the championship race.
