Dale Earnhardt Jr’s NASCAR broadcasting contract has expired

NBC Sports has yet to renew with Dale Earnhardt Jr

Silly season isn’t exclusive to NASCAR drivers.

Dale Earnhardt Jr ran 631 races in the NASCAR Cup Series over a 19-year career. He retired from the sport following the 2017 season with 26 career wins.

Beginning in 2018, Dale Earnhardt Jr signed on as a race analyst for NASCAR races airing on NBC. The deal included a 5-year contract.

That contract expired at the end of last season. A renewal agreement has not been signed.

NASCAR’s 2024 tv deal includes both NBC and FOX. NBC’s portion of the tv broadcasting rights don’t begin until June 16th, 2024 at Iowa Speedway.

Earnhardt is hoping to have a deal done before the June event.

Dale Earnhardt Jr comments on his tv contract

“My contract with NBC is up,” Earnhardt said on the Dale Jr Download.

“It was up at the end of last year. I’m currently working through what that looks like for me. I definitely love being in the broadcast booth and want to continue doing that.”

“We’ve had some great conversations with all of NASCAR’s TV partners. My home and my love is at NBC and I’d love to be back with them so we’ll see where it goes. But right now, I really don’t have a job in terms of broadcasting.”
