Gase-Muniz Motorsports NASCAR team leak?

Did Frankie Muniz become a co-owner of the NASCAR Xfinity Series team?

Ahead of Daytona, it was rumored that Frankie Muniz had brought into Joey Gase Motorsports. However, there’s been no official announcement.

Now, an image was shared to social media further hyping the ownership change. The image featured a sticker with a team named Gase-Muniz Motorsports.

The logo also featured No. 53 and No. 35.

The logo was caught in the background of the image. And, after fans pointed out the new logo, the post was removed.

No such team has been announced.

However, there are a few hints that suggest an announcement is upcoming. Here are some behind the scenes connections…

Emerling-Gase Motorsports, Patrick Emerling no longer connected to the team

The team put entries for Daytona under the Joey Gase Motorsports name. In 2022 and 2023, the team was formerly known as Emerling-Gase Motorsports.

Ahead of the 2024 season, Patrick Emerling has left the team. The former co-owner is now driving for SS Green Light Racing.

Emerling is racing part-time with SS via the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He’s also racing full-time with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Per a team release, “The change allows Emerling to focus fully on his racing schedule. In addition to his duties with SS-GreenLight, Emerling will be competing full-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour with car owner Rich Gautreau.”

Frankie Muniz signed with Joey Gase Motorsports

Muniz was the star of tv sitcom Malcom in the Middle. In recent years, he’s been climbing the racing ladder. Last season he ran full-time in the ARCA Menards Series.

Muniz made his Xfinity Series debut with Joey Gase Motorsports last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. The announcement was made just days ahead of Daytona.

The machine driven by Muniz featured Ford branding.

Joey Gase Motorsports typically fields a mix of Chevrolets and Toyotas. Gase himself is back behind the wheel this weekend via Atlanta Motor Speedway, the car will be a Chevrolet.

A possible scenario is that Joey Gase Motorsports is making a switch to Ford ahead of a new team co-owner announcement. Which would take time but that’s also pure speculation.

Muniz is a Ford backed driver.

After Daytona, Muniz announced his next race with the team. He’ll race at Phoenix Raceway on March 9th.

Muniz says he plans to do a lot of racing in 2024. However, so far only Daytona and Phoenix have been announced.
