RFK Racing appeals NASCAR penalty from Las Vegas

NASCAR suspended two crew members after the No. 17 lost a wheel during the race

Chris Buescher had the single lug nut fly off during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The wheel followed and that’s brought a big penalty to the team.

Two crew members were suspended for two races following the race at Las Vegas. The penalty noted sections 8.8.10.4.A & C.

This week, RFK Racing elected to appeal the penalty. They will be allowed to state their case to the National Motorsports Appeals Panel next week.

Three members of the panel will vote after the team pleads their case. In the past, the panel has adjusted penalties issued by NASCAR.

In the meantime, both crew members have been temporarily reinstated for this weekend’s race at Phoenix Raceway.
