Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 125 (1-125 / 500)

Green flag, Blaney gets the jump and he’s clear into turn one. Blaney gets loose and wiggles off the bottom, Josh Berry looks inside. Several laps later, Berry completes the pass and takes the lead away.

Lap 21, Hamlin has worked to the bumper of Berry. Berry misses the bottom and Hamlin takes the lead away. Christopher Bell tags Joey Logano and Logano chases it up the track into William Byron. Byron gets sideways and tags the wall, no caution. Byron has a bent toe link.

Lap 23, caution for debris.

Hamlin leads the field to the pit lane. Berry wins the race to the pit exit. Reddick stays out.

Green, Reddick clears Berry into turn one. Bubba Wallace works to the outside of Reddick, Berry looks inside and it’s three wide for the lead. Reddick gets sideways off turn four and he slides to the inside wall. Zane Smith runs into Reddick on the apron and the caution is out.

Green, Bubba Wallace clears Berry into turn one via the outside lane.

Lap 53, Hamlin works to the outside of Wallace. With four fresh tires, Hamlin clears him with ease and takes the lead away.

Lap 60, Chase Elliott has found speed on the outside lane. He works to the right rear of Hamlin, Elliott to the lead.

Elliott starts fading after a few laps in the lead, Kyle Busch takes the spot away!

Lap 71, Zane Smith blows a tire, caution.

Busch leads them to the pit lane. Hamlin wins the race to the pit exit.

Lap 83

Lap 83, Blaney works inside of Hamlin, Blaney to the lead. Just a few laps later, Hamlin works to the outside of Blaney and retakes the lead.

6 to go in stage one, Blaney works inside of Hamlin for the lead.

5 to go, Ty Gibbs looks inside of Blaney. Gibbs to the lead! Drivers are fighting heavy tire wear.

2 to go, Kyle Busch blows a tire and spins! Denny Hamlin also blows a tire and tags the wall. The caution is out.

Ty Gibbs wins stage one at Bristol Motor Speedway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 125 (126-250 / 500)

Gibbs leads the field to the pit lane. Larson wins the battle to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage two, Larson is clear before turn one. Gibbs works to the right rear of Larson off turn two, Gibbs to the lead.

Lap 146, Truex Jr moves to the top. He works outside of Gibbs, Truex Jr to the lead. Gibbs moves to the top and he takes the lead right back.

Lap 154, Larson moves to the top. He drives by Gibbs, Larson to the lead. Drivers are pacing themselves to save tires. Gibbs takes the lead right back once again.

Lap 160, Hamlin to the lead. Gibbs takes it right back.

Lap 176, Ricky Stenhouse Jr nearly hooks McDowell in the right rear. Stenhouse Jr has a mechanical failure and the caution is out.

Gibbs leads the field to the pit lane. Buescher wins the race to the pit exit with just 2 tires.

Penalty: Gibbs will drop to the rear as a tire got away during the pit stop.

Green, Buescher clears Bell into turn one.

Lap 200

Lap 200, Bell works outside of Buescher. Bell to the lead.

Lap 224, Bell gets loose off the bottom. Truex Jr works inside of him, Truex Jr to the lead. Gibbs has climbed through the whole field and he’s back to 3rd.

Lap 228, Kyle Busch spins on the entry to the corner, caution.

Truex Jr leads the field to the pit lane. Bell wins the race to the pit exit. Lajoie and Hocevar stay out.

Pit Penalties: Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch will drop to the rear.

Green, Bell drives right by LaJoie as the cars that stayed out are dropping quickly.

8 to go in stage two, Logano leans on the bumper of Bell in the battle for the lead. Logano works inside of him and they bang doors off turn two. A lap later, Bell gets loose off the corner and Logano takes the lead.

2 to go, Gibbs is on the bumper of Logano. Gibbs looks to the outside of Logano, Gibbs powers to the lead.

Green flag on stage three, Gibbs clears Truex before turn one.

Lap 285, Truex Jr looks under Gibbs, Truex Jr takes the lead away.

Lap 310, Josh Berry spins in turn two, caution.

Truex Jr leads the field to the pit lane. Hamlin wins the race to the pit exit. That has tied the record for the most lead changes in the history of Bristol Motor Speedway.

Green, Hamlin and Gibbs run side by side for the lead. Gibbs wins the battle via the outside lane.

Lap 364, Hamlin works under Gibbs in the battle for the lead. Gibbs lifts and lets him go, Hamlin to the lead.

Lap 368

Lap 368, Austin Cindric clips Stenhouse Jr in the left rear. They both spin, caution.

Pit Penalty: Larson drops to the rear for equipment interference.

Green, Hamlin and Bell run side by side for the lead. Hamlin holds him off.

Lap 394, Chastain shoves Blaney off the bottom for 13th.

Lap 399, Gibbs works under Hamlin. Gibbs returns to the lead.

Lap 424, Hamlin boxes Gibbs in behind lap traffic. Hamlin to the lead.

65 to go

65 to go, Blaney has a flat tire. He heads to the pit lane under green. Many cars are diving to the pit lane with tires worn completely off.

61 to go, Bell has a flat tire. He heads for the pit lane, no caution.

55 to go, Gibbs has a flat tire. He heads to the pits under green.

53 to go, Hamlin pits from the race lead.

49 to go, Hamlin cycles back to lead as the green flag stops are complete. Truex Jr trails by 2.3 seconds.

25 to go, Hamlin works heavy lap traffic. Truex Jr has climbed to his bumper.

18 to go, Hamlin misses the bottom lane and washes up the track. Truex Jr works under him, Truex Jr to the lead.

16 to go, Hamlin works back to the outside of Truex Jr. Hamlin to the lead. Make that 54 lead changes.

5 to go, Hamlin leads Truex Jr by a car length.

2 to go, Hamlin opens the gap.
